There is a huge controversy brewing about Second Chance vests, and the fact that the bulletproof material they're using (Zylon- NOT Kevlar) is supposed to degrade significantly over a brief period of time (measured in months!).

The protection offered by such vests is reported to be drastically less then when new.

Anybody know anything about this?

Scary!

Is Kevin McClung just crazy, or is there a REAL problem here for the users of these vests?

There is no such thing as a bullet-proof vest.

It's funny, every time I think about getting the Ultima Vest, something like this pops up and I thank goodness I still have my Monarch vest.  This time I actually got to try on an Ultima vest.  It is soooo much lighter than the Monarch, and was only 900+ bucks.  Guess I'll just stick it out with my issued Monarch.

This is not amusing. I have a Second Chance Ultima vest that I wear daily at work.
