I don't think this will get written up in the LA Times.

A nice write-up on a program that competes with gangs for leadership in the community.

1000 students in 7 years in the program.

Aside from JROTCs,
[url=http://www.youngmarinesreg01.org/]Young Marines[/url] and [url=http://www.seacadets.org/]Sea Cadets[/url] are two other great youth programs.

CAP steered a lot of young men into the Marines, myself included.

After a few summers at an AFB, you yearn for a real challange in the service.  The day you figure out you, a high school cadet, are harder charging then the air persons is a real wake-up.  Mine was in 10th grade.
