WTF? I thought we were getting passed this crap.

The Senate voted overwhelmingly today to give an increased child tax credit to millions of low-income families who did not receive it in the new tax law, moving rapidly to quell an issue that Democrats had used to portray Republicans as brutish toward the poor.

The bill, which would allow 6.5 million minimum-wage families to begin receiving checks of $400 per child, now goes to the House, where its prospects are uncertain.

Hey Douchebags!  It's a TAX CUT!  If you don't pay taxes, you don't get a cut, much less another EITC style Federal give away.

This looks like a political tug of war between the Democrats and the Republicans.

The Republican will give the Democrats what they want (increased child tax credit) if the Republican get to kill off the Estate Tax.

Last night on the news they were saying "THE CHILDREN" are being denied this tax credit!  ???????????  The children are paying taxes?????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course, it's ALL for the children, eh?

I never heard anybody interviewed in that piece make the point that these low-income people get MORE from the income tax system than they put in!  That's just another government giveaway, and they are taking it from those of us who don't get it all back in the Spring.

They were using a military family in the piece I saw.  The husband was deployed (Which, if he's in a combat zone means he's tax-exempt), and the picture they showed of him and his wife had him in a Civil Air Patrol uniform.  That tells me he's probably quite young if he's now on active duty.  The wife was definitely not underfed.  She showed evidence of having access to a substantial quantity of groceries, if you know what I mean (and I think you do! [;)]).  They had two kids.  She was trying to make a case for how this money was OWED to her.

Leave it to the liberals to show "support for the military" when they can use military dependents to justify a giveaway program.

Military members in junior grades have coped with this situation for years.  It's called living within your means.

The goal is to get as many people on the government dole as possible...

It's all the government's money anyway...  you should be happy they let you keep any of it.

When will a Republican Senator or Congressman grow a pair of balls, stand up and say, "This is not a tax cut--it's WELFARE.  I'm all for refunding the taxes paid, but not in favor of taking money from taxpayers and giving it to non-taxpayers under the guise of a 'tax cut'!"?

I didn't think so.

Great news... if you own a liquor store, a gambling casino or a tatoo shop.  I think it is just a tactical maneuver to assure a strategic victory down the road.
