Anyone ever seen or shot something like this?

Imagine having that set-up in .50 BMG or .338 Laupa Magnum.

Technically, you could have a bayonet lug on one of these.

1.5" barrelled action. Wow.

I'm confused.

How could you be a professional race car driver if you don't drive a race car?

To me, those defeat the purpose of a rifle.  Those are more like machines than rifles.

Cool! 5 shot groups at 100 yards that measure less than 0.10 inch.

Since it's not designed to be fired from the shoulder it's technically not a rifle.  According to the letter of the law you could build a semiautomatic one that takes detachable magazines, has a threaded muzzle AND a bayonet lug.

Looks cool!  I'd consider trying it.

Anyone know where to buy a surplus mortar baseplate, some servos, joystick and CCTV system?

I got to shoot one in 6mm PPC once.  Had a 2 ounce trigger pull.  Strange device, but I don't understand the attraction.

is it a firearm or not???

probably not, it uses a burst of AIR to start to movement, and is propelled by electricity.  when they make bb guns firearms this could fall into that catagory.

check out this site, lots of very cool things like rail guns

i think that would be considered an AOW since it isnt designed to be fired from the shoulder

Neither is a 1919 or an M2 and in semi they are both rifles. AR15's aren't designed to fire from the shoulder either, they are meant to be fired from the hip in a "spray and pray sweeping motion". [:)]

Uh, the "rail gun" used by shooting enthusiasts is just a fancy bolt rifle.  No air or electrons involved.
