This is not gun rlated, but I do feel its important.

Due to a power struggle in the tribe, the casino I used to work at has been closed. A couple of the Tribal Comission members made some comments this weekend that pissed me off so bad I wrote a letter to the editor that I will post below, and hand carried it to about 10 newspaper offices today.

Basicly, they compared the closing of the casino to "The sneak attack on pearl harbor" and the Sept 11th Attacks! Anyway, I have then number for the tribal offices [b]641 484 4678[/b]. Please call and let them know what you think.

Dear Sir or Madam:
This letter is in regards to the comments of the Meskwaki appointed council members Homer Bear, and Ray Young Bear made Memorial Day Weekend regarding the closure of the Meskwaki Casino and the dispute at the Meskwaki Settlement.

Homer Bear said on Friday May 23rd that he now “Knew how Roosevelt felt”, calling the closure a “Sneak Attack”, and comparing it to “Pearl Harbor”. First, as he is involved in the dispute that is ongoing at the settlement, I assume he has read the newspaper, and watched the coverage on local new stations.  It would be absurd to think that he had not heard that the casino was ordered to close by the National Indian Gaming Commission. He has also been involved in legal action trying to get an injunction to stop the closure.  For him to call the actions of the U.S. Marshall’s a sneak attack is ludicrous.

Second, and more important, to compare the closing of a business, (which is operating in violation of a court order) to an act of war, in which nearly 3,000 Americans were killed is unconscionable. If I were a tribal member, I would have grave concerns regarding any person who would make such a comparison, especially the Friday before Memorial Day weekend, one in which we honor our Nations Killed in Action.

Ray Young Bear wrote an editorial letter, that appeared in the May 24th Des Moines Register, comparing the happenings at the Meskwaki Settlement to the September 11th World Trade Center Attacks. In my opinion, this is another example that is beyond shameless. It shows a level of selfishness and lack of understanding that I have rarely in my 35 years seen. Once again, it compares a political struggle to a tragedy in which nearly 3,000 people perished. If it is sympathy he is looking for, he will not find it with me after such comparisons.

As a veteran, I felt I needed to bring this to your attention. I felt that these comments did great injustice to those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks, and certainly the men and women serving our country that died in the December 7th attack on Pearl Harbor.

My grandfather, living in Arizon, used to tell me about how they would scream that the Gov't owed them everything, yet when the gov't began a building project to build them new homes, they repeatedly vandalized and demolished the construction sites.
