Saw the flare guns that shoot 12 gauge flare rounds.  Now my brain started thinking and it said: "I bet some one made a beefed up version of that plastic looking flare pistol to shoot regular rounds."  Just curious if any thing like this exists.

The 410. Thompson has a rifled barrel and a device to prevent the shot from spinning at the end of it , it is a screw in device, I wonder if it would be legal to make a 12 gauge version ??????

Wouldnt a smoothbore pistol be an AOW?

The Thunder Five will shoot .410, .45-70, and .45 (Long) Colt.  There's only a 2 inch bbl, so don't worry about rifling affecting spread too much.

There are also 45 Colt/ .410 derringers on the market.

Yes it is but what they do is put straight rifling in the barrel. with no twist.

I think another question would be:  Would you like to actually fire a 12 gauge pistol?

That would be some hefty recoil!!!

You can buy shot shells for any revovler,or cut down a 410 case and load it for your 44 mag.

I may have *accidentally* made one. It started with really thick plmbing, trying to make a potato cannon, and it was to small for potatoes, so I decided to see what would fit in the barrel and a 12ga fit, so I shot it, and it did not blow up. I think a twelve gauge is 1 1/8"? but the pipe walls were nearly .4" thick. Oh yeah, I put a handle on it, so it functions as a massively overkill pistol. Wonder if I can hunt with it?

I have an original Ithaca Auto Burglar A Model 20 gauge and it remains one of my favorite guns.  It's one of the few guns I keep around not to shoot but just to collect.

Thanks, thougt it was my puter.

It started as a one response and I kept adding lines to see if it grew, and it did.

I made a steel barrel for my flare launcher and later wondered if I could shoot those 1 1/2 inch shells out of it.

I'm still too chicken to try.
