I was listening to a replay of Neil Boortz show last night on the way home. He is by no means my favorite radio personality, but he struck a nerve with me last night. He was commenting on the destruction of individualism in America. He read some of these quotes.

"The main plank in the National Socialist program is to abolish the liberalistic concept of the individual." (Adolph Hitler, quoted in Hitler, A Study in Tyranny, by Alan Bullock (Harper Collins, NY))

"It is thus necessary that the individual should come to realize that his own ego is of no importance in comparison with the existence of his nation; that the position of the individual ego is conditioned solely by the interests of the nation as a whole " (Adolph Hitler, 1933)

Neil followed this by saying,"Hitler was a socialist. That's LEFT wing, not right wing. Get over it.

"There is the great, silent, continuous struggle: the struggle between the State and the Individual; between the State which demands and the individual who attempts to evade such demands. Because the individual, left to himself, unless he be a saint or hero, always refuses to pay taxes, obey laws, or go to war. (Benito Mussolini)

"Comrades! We must abolish the cult of the individual decisively, once and for all." (Nikita Khrushchev , February 25, 1956 20th Congress of the Communist Party)

"All our lives we fought against exalting the individual, against the elevation of the single person, and long ago we were over and done with the business of a hero, and here it comes up again: the glorification of one personality. This is not good at all." (Vladimir Lenin, as quoted in Not by Politics Alone.)

We must stop thinking of the individual and start thinking about what is best for society." (Hillary Clinton, 1993)

"We can't be so fixated on our desire to preserve the rights of ordinary Americans ..." (President Bill Clinton, USA Today, March 11, 1993, Page 2A)

These quotes struck me as very poignant within the context of the recent and ongoing discussion about renewal of the assault weapons ban and the 2nd amendment in general. Both issues, AWB and RKBA, are always framed by the left as being about guns... or crime...or safety... or "the children." In reality, both issues are really about individual rights. The incremental withdrawal of individual rights, the AWB being a perfect example, is, in the eyes of the socialist left, a platform to further crush the concept of the individual.

Maybe I'm way behind the curve in pondering this issue. But I have been guilty of thinking of the AWB and RKBA as "gun issues." On a broader scale they are issues of liberty and personal freedom.

It's all interrelated.  RKBA is a liberty issue, as is free speech.  The liberals want to be able to go through the Bill of Rights like it's some kind of buffet.  As one of "the People", I say give it all to me.  It's not a buffet, it's a feast and I intend to partake of everything!

Second Amendment, and RKBA issues are prolly the LEAST significant loss we have seen in our Freedoms.........

Keep doing research.....
