Quoted: ,,,, a buddy once bought the jamcam and it was a piece of shit. 5 or 6 picture capacity and they were the size of a pinprick. The jamcam 2 wasn't much better.

OMG!!! Someone else bought one of those?!?! DON'T buy a JamCam, DON'T buy a JamCam, DON'T buy a JamCam, if it costs $59 - DON'T buy a JamCam, if it's free - DON'T accept a JamCam (The JamCam 2 just has a flash).

If there's any way at all to spend a few extra bucks, do it - you won't be sorry. I won't get into numbers (Everyone else already did, but keep an eye out for resolution, & 1.3+ memory).
A lot of people can suggest good $700, to $1,500 cameras - that's not hard. Finding a decent one for 2, to 4 hundred bucks is harder, but they are around - any used Sony Mavica is better than a new $100 POS.
Of course this is JUST MO, but the Olympus 360 is an especially good value, & they just came out with the 460 (2 x dig, 3 x phy zoom).

Not the best camera in the world, just a good one for the money - the 460s are $330 at Wallyworld.
I've tried the little Cannons too - they're the opposite of the giant Sonys - they're TOO little. They're neat little gems, but everything on them is hard to work if you've got normal fingers, & they're hard to hold steady without a tripod.
