Missed us but tornado sightings in Morgan, Anderson and Knox counties. The one in Morgan was just down the road from Mossy area where we just had one less than six months ago. |

Made it home after stop and go traffic. Apparently, a tornado cut a path from Oakridge through west Knoxville and is traveling into Monroe County now.
Missed my house by 2.5 miles. Not even wet here. Reports are 40,000 people are without power. Ambulances and firetrucks are everwhere. Saw a tree fall and hit a pickup truck taking the power lines down with it. The guys OK and truck is towed. One trailor park wiped out with 8 rushed to the hospital. No reports out of Knoxville yet. Check that, reports are coming of roofs being ripped off, hot water heaters flying, and trees down everywhere in west Knoxville. Another storm not a tornado, yet is heading into the area just hit. I suspect they don't even know cause the powers out. [b]Oakridge being hit again. Greenfurniture and Jugg, head for the basement.[/b] Duck and cover guys and my prayers are with those hurt and in the path of this 100 mph monster. Weather service blew this one bigtime. Now it's suppose to go on till midnight. There are now reports of a twister in Pigeon Forge at the Mandrel Sisters Theater. 6:45 PM |

All clear in the Top-of-the-World area on the Foothills Parkway. I was in Oak Ridge when it got hit but it wasn't much of a thing (remember, I'm from the Gulf Coast of Florida - this was nothing but a rain shower to me :) )
My wife was off Middlebrook Park when it hit there - very nasty, and she's from Miami and has been through a few hurricanes. But we didn't have a single branch down at our house - too bad, since I was hoping that lightning, winds, and rain would destroy my neighbors house and sweep away his viscious stray dogs :( |

Oakridge got hit twice but not hearing anything this AM about damage. I will call them this PM if they don't post. I'll probably call DavidTN too since his house is surrounded by large trees. (Like mine) Apparently, Knoxville is a mess. The schools are closed and the news is showing pics of down trees, powerlines, and wrecked homes. It was like it just came off the plateau and got nasty as a result. Mulitple twisters. |
