Will Smith dead

The double shooting took place around 11:29 p.m., near the intersection of Sophie Wright and Felicity streets in the Lower Garden District, NOPD said.

Smith was fatally shot and the female victim, who was not yet identified, was shot in the leg.

The suspect for the fatal shooting of former New Orleans Saints player Will Smith is himself a pigskin player — and may have even played one in the hit comedy “22 Jump Street.”

Accused shooter Cardell Hayes, 28, posted photos on his Facebook page in January 2014 apparently from the set of the film, which hit theaters that summer. The pictures show Cardell on a football field, dressed in a blue and orange uniform. In one picture, Cardell – who uses the nickname “Bear” on Facebook – is hugging a man he says is Wyatt Russell, one of the film's stars and the son of Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn.
