YAKIMA, Wash. -- A Department of Corrections officer with the Violent Crimes Task Force was shot in the area of S. 9th Avenue Thursday, police say. The officer was transported to the hospital.

Yakima police and the SWAT Team have surrounded the home located on 9th Ave. West where they believe the suspect fired shots at the female officer. Police say they believe the suspect remains in the home.

"A Department of Corrections officer with the Violent Crimes Task Force"

I don't know about you, but that reads to me like this guy deals with dangerous shit on a regular basis so something happening eventually shouldn't be a huge surprise.

If it was some movement related shooting, that goes outside the bounds of "normal" for that job I'd think.

Most of my moms family live there, she grew up there in Wapato. The only redeeming quality of Yakima is Miners.

Most of my family have had home break ins and been mugged. But all carry guns now.
