Freedom of speech and what not.
But there is some merit to self restraint, IMO. Dead kid pics are a bridge too far, again IMO. (I know I don't have to click, but when it isn't spelled out in the title. NSFW or Graphic is not sufficient.) |
|
Too much. We can have dead kids but we can't have tits and vag? Not explicit shit but playboy level stuff.
This site has fucked up rules if you ask me. Show guys getting roasted alive on a swing set, a dead kid on a beach (which really fucked me up today), and any number of Brazilian robbery films but a female body? Insta-ban or maybe a warning and timeout if you're lucky. |

Quoted: South American video? View Quote Drowned refugee/migrant. Probably two or three. Has been the feature of at least two threads. I think you can talk about it without the pic. It (the pic) doesn't lend moral weight to either side of the issue. I think, no matter what our positions are, that we can all stipulate that a dead 3 year old is a bad thing. |
|
it really does not matter.
there are members here who are more concerned with being able to see and post scantily clad women and will whine how they are unable to see scantily clad women in GD. apparently to ignorant to know about this internet thing where they can find websites with nothing but scantily clad women. but it has to be in GD so it can be "fair" I for one don't want to see pictures of dead children. I clicked on the link not really paying attention to what it was and wished I had not. |

I agree with you 100%
Yes there are places on the Internet to see necked women, I get that. I don't get why that is not ok here but stuff like you mentioned is. That pic really messed me up too. Your not the only one. |

i am making to call to stop that. thread has been locked.
i still have a few ghosts from calls past chasing me around, all of them kids. i don't care to see it either. |

This is why immigration shouldn't be illegal ever. For the kids.

You do realize that picture is EVERYWHERE today, right?
Just about every media outlet ran it. |
|
Just saw the thread.
Same thing I saw on CNN at work last night. I cant call this one. |

If you can't handle the photo, you can't handle the discussion. (Not directed at you, Primus, just in general)
People following the situation with the migrants know this is happening. A photo of one (of hundreds) dead shouldn't affect the discussion. |

I'm just saying if you're going to let dead kids slide as being acceptable, then anything should really be acceptable. |

Meh. It just didn't bother me but I've seen a lot of dead bodies up close and in a lot worse shape so I'm probably desensitized. My feelz meter barely twitched.

I have young children and the picture did not bother me. It was not a violent picture just a little boy laying in the water. There's much worse out there.

I've seen plenty of dead baby pics dealing with the Holocaust, kids burning from napalm, infant shot in a DC drive-by; should these be censored and stricken from memory? Where do you draw the line? Context? |

I'm fine with "WARNING GRAPHIC" in the title. Then it's your (my) choice.

I wholeheartedly agree, but we've had enough happy horseshit the last few days. "Welcome to Arfcom, I love you."

pic has been front and center on drudge for last 24 hours.
it is sad and it is reality. those two things have no place in GD. thread should have had a warning. |
|
I'd be in favor of a change to the CoC that says gore and bikini pics are alright, but MUST be placed behind spoiler tags and be appropriately labeled with an NSFW marker of some sort.

It was not gore. It was not sensationalist.
It was very sad. Gut wrenching. A reality check. We talk about SHTF and bug-out plans and the like. I cannot imagine the terror at home that would necessitate such a risky evacuation. |
