We don't personally know good from bad unless the situation was obvious or if we personally know someone. Further, these types of killings, not in self defense, are executions, and even a bad cop, a worst case scenario deserves to be tried for whatever crimes he commits. It was a long time ago now, but one of my really good friend's brother, Brent McCants, was a York County cop, and he was killed during a traffic stop on Dave Lyle Blvd in 1992. I was friends with Billy , but Brent was always around and really cool too. His mom Myra, suffered and grieved, never got over it. Billy wound up getting paralyzed because he started drinking heavy to deal with it and crashed his mustang, and her mother had Alzheimer's. Every so often, one of the perps ( one was executed, the other got life ) came up for parole, and she had to go before the board and relive that nightmare over and over and over. This officer's family is going to be going through the same stuff, as do all of them that fall. |
