I have been many times when I still lived in Germany.
Those where fun times. Getting drunk and sleeping in the car and doing it all over the next day again |

Went 5-6 years ago... I hope you've made your reservations months ago!
Have fun, I definitely want to go back. Hofbrauhaus was a blast! |
Sadly, I won't be there this year.
I will recommend that you watch the parade Saturday Sept. 19th before the keg tapping. Parade Info Then follow after the parade with the crowd to the tent of your choice. Sunday Oct. 4th they have a traditional gun salute at the Bavaria monument at 12. |

Hotel is like $320/night - nothing fancy and not a dump. However, within crawling distance of the tents. I really never pay for hotels there as I stay with relatives. However, I need to experience this specific event - like someone else said, bucket list and all. |

I'll be there with a bunch of maedels, living up the life, drowning in a sea of beautiful tits and beer.
I'll be in the Augustiner tent the first day and roaming around the next. Hit me up if any arfcommers want to meet up |

Gah, I might be gone by then. Not sure but I might stick around a day or two depending on how wasted I get and how fun it is.
I gotta get my tolerance up though, so for the next 2 weeks I'm getting shit faced nightly |

Man.......... I wanna go!
My boss lady (a german national) told me I'd fit right in in Germany.... I don't like my beer too cold... I was getting water out of a water cooler and mixed hot water with it, I was like.... I don't like cold things... She said "You must have some German in you!" I don't know about in me, but I'd like some on me! |

I lived in Germany for a few years and I prefer the Bad Durkheim Wine Fest. The fest should run the 2nd and 3rd weeks of September.
Looks like fun OP, have a great time, too large of a crowd for me.
I enjoy the small town fest's that happen during the summer months. I really enjoyed the Ettal Monastery Fest we happened on to back in the late 90's. |
*sigh* I wish.
Doubt I'll ever really get to do any international travel anytime soon. |
My hot E. German gf took me to Germany about 10 years ago.
I've never drank, fucked, or driven more badass cars in my life. Should have married her. |
Been there done that rained the hole day.
Pass like a big county fair with beer tents. Its like 8 euro a beer, sure its a huge German beer but still that's like Ball game prices. |
I am actually going to be there the last week of Sept for business. We're definitely stopping by
I will be there in spirit... We have some great micro brewery's here. |
I'd love to go if I had money.
Don't think I can take that crowd. Seems like that would kill all that might be fun about it, all crammed together like that. Would like to see some of the babes though. |
I went back in 91. I'm sure things have changed since then, Or maybe not.

It's awesome.
Also make sure you see a bit of the town I also recommend visiting the Hofbräuhaus , drink beer eat meat and pretzels and listen to umpah bands I love that place. |

I've been to Germany but not during Oktoberfest, it's on 'the list' to do. When my kid is just a few years older I may take the family over.
I do go to the local Oktoberfest in Helen, GA which is a small town modeled after a southern German town. Every year they do a very, very small version of the main event complete with authentic German beer, tents, live Polka, Lederhosen, etc. generally, it's a fun weekend day with the family to have a few beers and walk the streets looking at crafts and of course eat authentic German food. I can't hotlink on the tablet but for anyone interested just Google Helen, GA. Funny to see Mountian bubbas in lederhosen blitzed out of their mind with Rebel flags a' flyin.' |
Have a cabin rented in Helen for 4 days for Oktoberfest. No way in hell traveling international with two babies. One day will go on my euro beer trip to Germany and Belgium.
What do you guys think is the beer closest to what is served at Octoberfest? Something that I can get here

Haven't been in years, but made it to the 200th. I've since developed a love of smaller festivals with less tourists, crowds, and reservations needed. I was here a few weeks' back: http://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/1640/80154.JPG View Quote That looks really, really good. I need to get out of the USA for a while. That looks like a good destination. |

Can't go to the one over in Germany, but I will be attending Oktoberfest here in Hays.
Planning on getting full and drunk, again. |

Buddies hit it up when we were stationed in USAFE (I was in England). Said they think they had a great time, they blacked out for 4 days.
