People answer the door to four suspicious characters?
.............. http://www.11alive.com/story/news/local/west-side/2015/08/17/gunmen-shoot-man-during-attempted-home-invasion/31885861/ According to Atlanta Police, Michael Lash, his wife Whitney, their 2-year-old son and infant daughter had just returned to their home on Sumter Street from a vacation when four men knocked on their front door. "They pretended as if their vehicle had broken down and they were requesting a car jack of some sort from our victim at which point they brandished a weapon," said Ofc. Ralph Woolfolk. The men asked Lash to borrow a car jack and then tried to force their way inside. |

Car-jack....
I bet officer Ralph is sleeping at his desk to crack this case |

Local news guy on the radio this morning said the guy was shot in 2 of his legs.

Suspicious guy ringing doorbell or knocking? Ignore, observe where he heads off to.
4 guys on my front step knocking? I am getting the shotgun and kicking on the rear flood lights while I double check the doors. |

""It makes you think a little bit, but it also heightens the awareness that it could happen to anybody," the neighbor said."

No description of suspects, yet asking for help finding them?

I am one of the GD freaks who very rarely even gets off the couch when the bell rings and I'm not expecting anyone. People who matter have my phone number. If it's someone else, chances are that I don't want anything to do with it.

Yes according to neighbors, the family was a victim targeted as an easy mark. "It was just a shock,” neighbor Rance Jiles said. "Why they picked them out of the neighborhood to do this to, these young people, I don't understand it."
Jiles told Petersen he has lived in the neighborhood for years. "I've always considered it a safe neighborhood. It's quiet. It's pretty much away from all crime,” neighbor Charlie Powell said. Many people in the neighborhood say this is the last place they thought this would happen. |

Mrs callgood: did you know there's a pistol on top of the grandfather clock in the entrance hall?
callgood: Atlanta Police are asking anyone with information about the crime to call Crime Stoppers View Quote anyone get a description of the perps? I know it all happened so fast but a few details would narrow things down a bit. Middle Eastern? Hispanic? Albino? |

That's the main problem right there. The paper/police/public is petrified to address the elephant in the room. “In a time of deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary act.”~ George Orwell

And when people ask why I carry a gun everywhere, I shall tell them about this article.
I hope the perpetrators resist arrest and spare the taxpayers the burden of supporting them further. |

View Quote The only experience I've ever had with someone I don't know knocking on my door is people trying to sell something, people asking for money, Jehovah's Witnesses, local politicans asking for signatures, etc. It's never important, therefore, I don't bother answering the door. |

In the comments section, multiple locals are reporting that 1/2 the story is left out.
Once the door was opened, 15 to 19 "teens" ran inside and ransacked the house. |

What is NW Atlanta like?
Apparently this happened on Sumter Street. I've heard Atlanta has some really nice neighborhoods. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

View Quote I have a friend that very succinctly put it "Some days, I never leave the house without my gun. Other days, I never leave my room without my gun." Sounds paranoid to some, but its just being prepared. |

If someone knocks on my front door , I don't know them.
All I know come thru the back gate to the dock and outdoor bar . I always answer the front door with a pistol , day or night. |

#1 reason to keep a gun in every room OR on your person.
Given, I live in a really, really safe community, out in the woods. (Private Hunting / Fishing community.) But the way my house is set up, I can see who's at the door from my kitchen. Which means, I wouldn't answer the door sans a gun. |

Why, we don't need 30rd magazines at all! I seriously hope one of these types of mobs runs across someone with skills someday, and half of them get dirt napped. I want this sort of behavior to be discouraged, or for the insane mindset that this is ok to finally be pushed out into the light. |

Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile View Quote Atlanta has extremely nice neighborhoods. Unfortunately even the nice neighborhoods have break ins. Short of a gated hood (even that doesn't stop it all) it will continue to happen. After some discussions with Local Police, they have said that the houses closest to interstates get hit the most as the bad guys can hit there house and then hop on the interstate and be on the southside in 10 minutes. |

Is this is a good part of town? View Quote There is no good parts in the city . There are pockets of nice where urban hipsters are trying to be cool surrounded by ghettos . Ghetto residents steal from the nicer houses , been going on for years . The urban cool treendy inner city types are too stupid to realize the suburbs exist for a reason. |
