My dog will get her favorite tennis ball and lay at the front of the couch. She looks at the ball for a few seconds then pushes the ball under the couch where she can't reach it with her paw. She then proceeds to growl at the ball and whine until I go get it for her.

She will do this constantly.

I play fetch with her every day until she's exhausted but she would retrieve until she literally collapsed if I allowed her to. I use the chuck it to get those 50-80 yard retrieves and tire her out after 10-15 minutes.

I can only assume it's because she's a Heeler and she's just plain crazy.

Whenever my neighbor's dog did that, my neighbor would have a stroke within 2 days, good luck.

Yeah, yeah... I know what you mean. She get winded but she's not "tired" in the human sense.

It's enough to calm her down for a bit, but she would run miles and miles. It's insane how much energy the breed has.

I agree that they are the best dogs!

I trained my dog to lick it's balls.

People were amazed and paid good money to watch.

My Australian Shepherd loves doing this. He'll purposely push it under couches or the entertainment center. And we know he's doing it on purpose because he'll bring it right back and do it again after we move it somewhere else.
