Milwaukee for sure. I've got the M18 Hammer Drill, Sawzall, Circular saw, and flashlight combo. They are damn near bullet proof. I also have an M12 grease gun for my crane and that thing is awesome!! I bought the M12 for weight savings and get about 7 tubes off of a charge. I should add I used to be a DeWalt owner but after buying Milwaukee...never again.

I think that there are a lot of good choices right now.
I hate to say it, but unlike a lot of products, there may not be a 'best' one in this industry right now. Its like handguns, there are tons of good quality and its hard to say which one is best- except for personal preferences. I'm not a pro just a serious DIY. But I've bought a lot over the years. They all been good. I've been lucky. From what I sense the last few years, the Milwaukee stuff (German designed) has the edge for quality (but you may pay a little more for that) I have a lot of the new 18 volt Milwaukee (most of it the brushless 'fuel' stuff) along with some 12 volt Milwaukee. Its really nice gear! But its all pretty good. |

I've had Rigid and Craftsmen because I don't make as much... so far all of ours are still going strong. |

Depends on your usage, Dewalt is between homeowner and contractor, or you could go rigid which is a quality homeowner set. Milwaukee is a strict contractor set.

Everyone I work with prefers Milwaukee M18. They seem to be excellent tools in my experience also.
ETA: nothing serious go M12 or a different brand. Dewalt and Riyobi seem to be decent at a bit lower price & quality. Milwaukee is probably overkill for your use, certainly the M18 version. M18 is really for profession use where it's going to be seeing regular action all week and needs to hold a lot of charge for a lot of work. M12 is fine for homeowner stuff. It's also lighter and easier to use. And cheaper. |

I have owned nice DeWalt and Bosch drills. Even trying to baby the batteries, they died way before the drill died. With that in mind when it came to buying a new set, I went with Rigid due to the sole criteria that their lifetime warranty even covers the batteries.

Dewalt owns the Porter-Cable line. That's when PC went down hill... their sanders are outta control gyros.
 They also bought out Emglo compressors... still good.
Dewalt chucks in the past have been their weak link. Milwaukee in the past was a superior tool but started cheaping out in the 90's... as in junk. They learned a hard lesson and have now returned as a quality tool. Makita has always been a leader in cordless drills. |

Price be damned?
Snap on electric stuff is bomb proof with an excellent warranty. But you'll pay for the name and quality. More consumer grade... dewalt or Milwaukee. Edit: Bosch for big construction stuff. |

DeWalt is good to go for a home user. I have a full 18V set for home use and a 20V driver and impact for use at work. Anything else, I use the Hilti stuff in the gang box at work. The Hilti stuff is great, but expensive. Milwaukee 18V Fuels are really good too, but you're paying more. I didn't think the possible extra performance of some of the tools would be worth the extra cost. Several years down the road, I haven't had the DeWalts fail to do anything the Milwaukee's could. If the DeWalt choked on something, so did the Milwaukee's I tried.
