8 30's and 4 20's is a good figure per rifle.  Although I would like to have 10 & 6.

Of 30 rounders I have (6) Thermolds (10) USGI and (1) Orlite.  Of 20 rounders I have (6) Colt factory.  That's 23 mags for my 2 AR's.  That's a good start, but I definitely need more.  I think 10-20 rounders and 10-30 rounders for each rifle is a good number.

I'm kind of low on ar mags.  I've only got 3-20's, 14-30's, 6-10's, and 2-5's.

Just off the top of my head, for the AR's I have about 12 Thermolds, 8 steel "range mags", maybe 20 USGI 30's NIW for the future, 15 USGI 30's in varying condition for daily use, 10 USGI 20's, 10 Bushy 10-rounders, and 5 Frakenmags for future target practice.

For the M1A maybe 4 10-rounders, 2 Chinese 20's, 15 NIW 20's (busted my bank), and a couple of Thermolds.

For the FAL, something like 40 NIW 20's, 2 20's for current range use, and 4 10-rounders.

Not to mention 40 additional mags for the Glocks and HK Mk.23 and USP's.

Obviously, I went on a shopping spree in 1999. My friends thought I was nuts, but I have mags now and they don't. In fact, the used USGI 30's I bought for $9 early in 1999 they paid $125 each in December 1999. Bans make gun stores rich.

Mark IV, it's the honest to God truth my friend! This in the Bay Area, just a few days before the SB23 ban. These were beaten to hell, 50% USGI 30's. They were selling like hot cakes. God help my state!

i have a mag formula #M=L/MC.

this is number of mags= number of outspoken librals devided by capicity of magizenes.

round up

example

you have 200 outspoken anti freedom librals in your area. you want 30 rdrs. 200/30. this works out to seven mags. if you worried about extara shots, figure you want 2 extra shots per libral. just mult by 3

I'm Ross, and I'm a Magaholic.

I will have to admit I buy mags when I find good deals.  It doesn't matter how many I already have.  It's an uncontrollable urge to search them out and aquire them.  I've tried to break the habit before, but I've alwasy been unsuccessful.  Just when I think I have it kicked, I'll spot an old USGI M-14 mag hidden in some shop for $9.95.  I just can't pass up a deal like that.  Wouldn't you pay $10 just to say you bought an M-14 mag at that price.  Heck I left the price tag on it just for bragging rights!  No it will never end.  I've accepted this now and mearly try to limit the amount of money I spend on mags.

Once you start down the road of buying mags, you'll be hooked.  My advice is to just go ahead and start a budget for them and that way at least you'll control the addiction.

Ross
