How about that waiting period? Also good luck getting a carry permit in MD. Do they even recognize your place of business as a place you can carry it?

Best thing you can do is take the insurance money. tell you land lord your out of business, (and no you will not be paying anything more until he refurbs the building) and move you business to an area that won't burn you out.

Listen to the tears.

Profit, probably making more money with people who won't blame you for anything.

Good.

That's the "lesson" people should be taking away from all this nonsense.  At the end of the day there is no one else responsible for keeping you and your safe.  It's your job, and it behooves you to acquire the know-how and equipment to at least do a passable job of it.

Yes, of course.

But he needs to relocate to where teens won't try to incinerate him for shits and giggles and where he can obtain a firearm for his protections without all the crap he will need to go through in Baltimore in order to legally arm himself.

Food Desert creator!

Yesterday I heard that about 200 businesses were burned.   I can't verify that number and it is high compared to the news coverage I saw.

Sure the CVS and a possible vacant building and/pr a almost finished retirement home burned, but that is about all that I heard about.

Caveat:  I may have misunderstood the 200 businesses report.  Maybe they were damaged and not necessarily burned.

When we had a big riot here years ago, an employee stuck in one of those Old Timey Photo places successfully warded off looters using a prop coach gun.

Unless the laws there have changed dramatically in the last year,

No waiting period for a shotgun. The new pistol laws, however, are bullshit.

No carry permit, for sure, but there's no permit required for a long gun. It's even (or was, not too long ago) legal to carry one openly, but expect attention from the local gendarmes. Carrying loaded in a vehicle is a game law violation.

Yes, your place of business is a legal place to carry a pistol, but transporting it there daily requires the separate locked box thing.

Absolutely. But he may not want to leave it there for a number of reasons.

The immediate problem is the new Handgun Qualification License required there, and the cost and time to obtain it.

Or he could find a C&R gun and be exempt from that part of it, anyway.

I'm not a fan of Mossberg but he should get one of these.

It is affordable, does the job, and easier to get than a pistol in Maryland. He should have one in his store and home. As for his car.... he should jumo through the hoops has best as he can and get a handgun.

But since he probably spends the majority of his time at his business and home... a Maverick 88 Security should work for him.

That is true.

A weird "loophole" in Maryland law lets you not only "keep" a handgun at a business you own, but you can "carry" on the property.

In his case though, its striclty within the pizza shop.  Take one step outside and you can be arrested.

You can absolutely have a magazine capacity greater than 10 in Maryland.  You just have to purchase the mag outside of Maryland and physically bring it into Maryland yourself.  You can't have it mailed here and you can't received it in Maryland.  It's fine to receive the mag out of state and bring it with you back to Maryland.

Most States are like that. In FL you can have a firearm open or concealed on your property, Business or Residence.  But if you leave your business and step onto the sidewalk (sidewalk isn't your property) you are violating the law (if you have no CCW).

It does make perfect sense.  it allows government (Democrats) to continue to blame neighboring states and the NRA for the crime caused by 50+ years of social policies that have destroyed inner city families.

You can also buy them online and have them shipped out of state and get them that way

Years ago in Maryland,

Me: Too bad we can't get hi-caps here any more.

Dealer friend: I have a 30-rounder for the M1A, and a 90 rounder for the AR.

Me: I sure would like to buy you lunch in Pennsylvania one day.

Friend: I have some time on Thursday. By the way, I'd like to see the range you belong to up there.

Me:

It was a very nice afternoon!!

A business owner can carry in his business, but he/she can't carry to/from his place of business.  Without a CCW, which is near impossible to attain in Md, there are restrictions that prohibit loaded firearms in automobiles.

So, you can either leave the gun stashed in your store, or drive to/from work with an unloaded gun in a lockbox, or transport a loaded firearm, thereby becoming a criminal.

One of the reasons that I declined to move to Maryland even though I could earn more money and have a much better chance of promotion.
