Every year one of my parents ends up giving me 2-4 scratch-off lottery tickets for Christmas.  I've never bought one myself, and you're about to find out why.  In 20-odd years of this happening, I've never won a thing.  Nothing, not 1 dollar.  One year I scratched off the scratchy stuff and the ticket underneath was blank.  Nothing printed on it at all.  I took it to mean that God just wanted me to know that he hates my fucking guts.  Fair enough, God.

Anyway, just now I scratched off this year's tickets before I threw them away.  It's been a long hard road, but I won $5.  What are the odds?

Back in the 90's,for some strange reason, I was almost always winning. Buy $10 worth of tickets, scratch, and come out with a few hundred. Cash it in, buy $20 more and pocket the rest. Maybe win $40 or $50.
I made a lot of easy money. Now, today, I can't win a damn thing. Maybe a free ticket once in a while. All those winnings from years past circled the drain.

Now let's talk about Vegas in another thread.....
