Those of you who are inclined to take training classes from time to time- what sorts of things outside of "shooting" classes interest you?

Land navigation?  Night land navigation?  Individual skills? Team tactics? Planning?  Leadership?  Not saying the class must exclude shooting, just that I am thinking along the lines of classes where shooting isn't the focus.

Suggested so far:

Counter Intel

Combat Life Saver/Tactical Combat Casualty Care

NTV(Non Tactical Vehicle) Operations

Lock picking

Maritime SAR

Offroad Driving

MOUT/FISH (Military Operations in Urban Terrain/Fighting Inside Someone's House)

I'd like to take a class to drive like someone on a protection detail.
Not that I'd ever need to, but just for giggles.

I have an interest, some equipment and some practice at it, and some training would be the tits.

I may or may not have an opportunity soon to attend something called "Escape from restraints train the trainer".

That would be fun.  If you ever get a chance to drive in an auto-x event, it at least lets you test the limits of your car far more than  regular road driving, and some of it would be applicable.  Plus its fun.

That comment did spark an idea though:  Frankly, I wouldn't mind taking some protection detail type classes period.  While I'm only paid in food and sex, a big part of the reason I carry is to protect my wife.  Some training in getting her out of a situation/protecting her while defending myself would actually be pretty valuable, IMO.

I would like to take an emergency medical refresher, and a NVG based shooting course.

Also, if one of the shooting game hotshots would come around I'd really like to take a competition based carbine course, or better yet, 3 day, 3 gun course.  But I know you said military.

Unarmed control techniques.

Not talking the dog pile the perp with every body available stuff...stuff like what a sheriff's deputy showed me.  Assailant comes at you hand extended, grab the hand and twist/point to the elbow while stepping into it; as the hand folds, off hand grabs the elbow and levels it while continuing to apply pressure.  Not a good explanation, but...can do it and, it works fairly well.

That's just armbars and wrist locks.  In military parlance it's termed under "combatives".

All I will say is this: If you know the right people and don't expect a certificate at the end, you can learn some interesting stuff.

I've taken MOUT courses, Offensive and Defensive driving classes, and land nav (night nav was part of the course as well).

The next class I'd like to take would be something on stalking. I have no dreams of being some uber ninja seal sniper, but I like to hunt whitetail and am too ADD to sit in a stand like most normal people.

There's a few courses I'd like to learn over again, small unit tactics and CLS. As much as I'd hate to take it all over again, land nav would be a course I'd like to do again.

Classes I'd like to take: Tracking/stalking, improvised munitions, lock picking, counterintel, and SERE.

As for the security part I'd like take a few courses on would be like defensive driving and something like Krav Maga.
