A toddler who was born after a 15-year-old boy got his 13-year-old sister pregnant is to be adopted, a High Court judge has ruled.
The two-year-old boy, who was born to the siblings in Northern Ireland in 2012, will be put up for adoption after Mr Justice O'Hara agreed to a freeing order. Sitting in the High Court in Belfast, the judge ruled that the mother - who is now 16 - was incapable of giving consent for adoption herself. related but that the parents had just married or something.. Not sure, it did mention a step father though so maybe.. hopefully... When the judge says "incapable" I wonder if that means she is maybe mentally challenged or something.... |

View Quote It doesn't always need to be "mentally challenged" in the sense of learning disability or low IQ, consent tests (which are likely similar in NI and England) look at the ability to understand the decision being made. Reading between the lines - well, not really between the lines, it states it in the article - she just seems to have been raised in a highly dysfunctional absuive family that has left her so screwed up mentally and emotionally that the court doesn't believe she can fully comprehend what it means to make this decision. Her upbringing has probably caused her to normalise grossly abusive behaviour. |
