Help me with a price point on some AR barrels in 9mm.

What price point would you say you'd jump on?

5" 1-10 twist 9mm barrels

10.5" 1-10 twist 9mm barrel

16.1" 1-10 twist

I want to help one of our vendors

5/8x24 TPI (there are a lot more choices of Flash hiders/muzzle breaks in that TPI

A lot of the other makers go with 1/2x36, very limited choices from what I have seen

4140 moly steel

Blued barrels (they look really nice blued)

When is the last time any of you guys got the chance to help set the price of an AR item?

Other than voting with your wallet?

Voting with your wallet takes a long time of trial & error in pricing.

This is a chance to let a MFGer know what you think is a good , honest price of something that you'd be willing to pay.

As a reference I paid $235 delivered from TROS for a 9" w/ 3-lug adapter machined into the barrel that was made from 4140 and blued.  I would think $185 or less delivered with it just being threaded since many people use 3-lug adapters and will have to buy one to use the barrels.

$140-$165 seems to be the going rate.  More if they're 3 lug barrels.  Not sure what a TROS three lug costs these days.

so looking around a bit, trying to build a pistol 9mm, I found barrels from as low as 150 to as high as 250.

I have been looking at the 5 to 7 inch range.
the longer the barrel for some reason the cheaper it got. guessing due to volume the 16 in barrels were about 50 bucks cheaper than the 7 inch.
not quite enough savings to buy a longer one and have it cut down.

to make me "jump" as it were, it would have to be similar to that other sale that was listed in gd for the 5.56 and 300 black melonite barrels for just under 100 bucks.

for a no namer blued barrel, under 100 bucks might make me think about it. but at that point there are a few used ones floating at that price point for a known name.
adco is in the 170 range for a 5 inch right now. parked, but still a known player.

this is a tag.  after turning up my nose at AR pistols for years, i finally caught the bug and built a 10.5".  but just the one.

except for the very short bbl 9mm i now have in mind.

and then that will be all.

I like the idea of 5/8-24 threads instead of 1/2 -36 or 1/2-28

1/2x28 has to be milled out or made bigger, pretty bad if you use a 5.56 1/2x28 on a 9mm

$100 or so would be a winner I think.  For that I might even buy one just to have around in case I ever decide to build a 9mm upper again.

I built the prototypes from the 5" blued barrel & the 10.5" Blued barrel

What do you guys like in a finish?

The blue looks really nice on the 5" & 10.5"

Maybe the 16" should be phosphate or ceracoat

I was shocked when I test fired the 5" with 1-10 twist , 6" plates at 50
yards , hitting the steel target all 10 rds, I had an M4 stock on it
which helped a lot too LOL
