Had a customer today whose job is to do back ground checks for the federal government for people seeking security clearances.

He was telling me about a guy back in '98 that was getting a promotion in the INS and required a higher security clearance. Got to checking him out a little more closely than when he was first hired and found out he was actually an illegal alien from Libya stationed on the Canadian border and was just letting people through!

Don't remember ever hearing about this in the news, but I can see where the INS would have kept it quite at all cost.

...but damn! Just damn!

That's one hell of a story!

When I got out of the service in the 70's they showed my my FBI file. It blew me away.  They had talked to my teachers, neighbors, and all kind of stuff.  I guess things have loosened up a wee bit.
