If you're buying that type of gun based on looks, then you're a fucktard.
Because they don't feel like a brick.
ETA: I own an XDm, not an XD. |
I don't like them at all, but some people just like the way the grip feels I suppose.
Grip safety makes them feel safer. I traded my XD(m) for a Glock 20.
I fired my new XD.45 about 50 times and concluded I had just been fucked. What a second rate piece of shit. |
My dad was recently looking for a concealed carry pistol.
It came down to the shield or the xds based on size. He chose the xds because he felt more comfortable carrying something with a grip safety. I personally don't follow this logic, but there are a lot of (mostly older) guys who want SOME kind of external safety on their polymer pistols, and I think that tends to steer a lot of them towards the XD series. |
No, I do not share your sentiment. XDs are excellent weapons and who really gives a shit what a weapon looks like. I bought the XD9 because everybody and their Grandma has a Glock.
I originally bought one because it was my first carry gun and I wanted the added safety of having a grip safety. Beyond that, I liked the protruding guide rod and the fact that it didn't bite me whereas my G19 bites me constantly.
I ended up selling it eventually, but it was a respectable firearm in many ways. Ugly as shit but nothing wrong with them really. |

Personally, if I didn't like a Glock, I'd go with the M&Ps. I just don't like the XD.

I have a Glock 17 and an XD9.
Love them both - would count on both to protect me or my loved ones. Can't say the same for the 1911. |
Because for some strange reason, people like them?
I personally hate them. |
I for one don't like the angle of the Glock grip in relation to the barrel, but do like the XD. If you don't like it, don't buy one; but don't insist that everyone else agree with your opinion.
Could also be that people don't want to be associated with the most annoying subgroup in firearms, Glock fanboys.
It's a DA only striker fired tennifer coated pistol. I will never understand why Glock owners hate the XD. I bought my XD .45 because the grip felt less like a brick in my hand. Also the grip angle is more natural for me than on the glock. No problem with Glocks or the XD in my mind. That said my next pistol will be a CZ or a Sig.
With thousands and thousands of rounds downrange, my XD has never had a failure of any kind. Hard to really bitch about that. Plus, I consider the grip safety a bonus. I can holster my gun without depressing it, which means even if the trigger snags, I won't end up with Glock leg. Plus, their nickname is grenade.
Because its a reliable, accurate, polymer striker fired pistol backed by one of the largest and most trusted firearms manufacturers, and it's typically more affordable than a glock or M&P.
Because I paid $350 for it with 200 rounds of 9mm and after putting close to 8,000 rounds through it without a hiccup I'll never sell it. I've shot Glocks, don't care for them honestly. Would have no problem trusting my life to one but I prefer Springfield

Glockophiles only wish they could attain the "fanboi" users level of obnoxiousness. |

In the 4" and 5" length I really like the original XD. The grip and trigger feel better for me and I'm able to get a more secure and therefore accurate grip with them.
I carried a 3" XD for a while and hated shooting it. Too much mass above the grip and too small of a grip made recoil hard to manage. I picked up a glock 19 and never looked back. The 19 is obviously a great gun, and in my opinion it's arguably the best edc gun ever. I still prefer the feel of my XD's but the form factor doesn't fit my needs for an edc piece. Looks play zero factor in my purchasing decisions. Firearms are tools to me. |

I prefer the xd grip angle and it is reliable, unlike my gen 4 g19...

Been carrying my XD for 6 years and it has performed every time I pulled the trigger. It feels better than the Glock.
Because a glock is ugly and XD's have a nice grip safety and some folks like that.
Another good reason is some XD's have a thumb safety and some folks like that too. |

XDM 45 Service is my Nightstand Pistol. I love it, fits my hands good, feels right and I and shoot it better than a lot of my other pistols which is why it is my G2G for home protection.
Because they like it/ can afford it/ haven't been browbeaten by the Glock/Sig/S&W/CZ/1911/whatever fanboys?
It is a serviceable pistol in my experience (covering 6 pistols in full/compact sizes and both 9 and 45), and the grip is superior to the Glock which I admit in spite of the fact that I prefer the Glock 19. Don't like it, don't buy it, and don't worry about it.

The same people who say Glocks are ugly, go out and buy an XD. XDs look like crap to me and have a fuggin grip safety. Anyone else feel this way? For comparison: Glock 19 http://i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y423/philipdrye/image_zpsc5a6e586.jpg XD 9 http://i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y423/philipdrye/image_zpsb3d3d0b1.jpg View Quote You shut your whore mouth. My first gun I bought for my Conceal Carry a year ago was this: Glock 19 with Talon grips I have since found I like the .45 acp more and loved the double stack XD .45 in FDE, so this is what I carry now: Both great guns imo. |
