The problem is that rather than throwing extra funds at NASA we should be freeing up those resources by getting rid of wasteful programs. At this point I think that it is also becoming obvious that private companies are likely a better avenue than some bloated government beurocracy that will spend all it time and money on liberal social engineering rather than accomplishing anything good in science.

Saying that "oh we don't need rockets we'll just get NASA to launch it" is causing private industry to stagnate while companies like SpaceX perfect their "product" everyday is laughable. Fully fund NASA and cut the green bullshit, encourage private companies, competion drives innovation. Maybe I have a soft spot for NASA, and being sentimental will only get you so far, but I will bet you money that the inspiration/innovation alone that NASA sparked is worth it. |

NASA needs to be fully funded, but they do NOT need to be in the business of launching satellites. They should be exploring, period. Exploitation should be left to the private sector.

Total economic and military assistance: $49.5 billion Total military assistance: $17.8 billion Total economic assistance: $31.7 billion ----------------------------------------------------------------- The N.A.S.A. budget is about 18 billion. We give away three times that to people that hate us every year. Bang for the buck, of all government projects, the N.A.S.A. is right up there with the highest returns. |
