I have a Ruger Mark II Government Target Model I use mostly for paper-punching. Are there any other good target/plinking .22 pistols out there anyone has experience with for the same use? Preferably inexpensive.....

I have a Browning Buckmark I really like. The Ruger is a fine pistol. (Kinda like arguing about PCs and Macs) I'm looking at the Beretta Neos... looks like fun.

What about the new Beretta .22 pistol?  I don't know anything about it, but have heard it's a good one.

Rugers and Buckmarks are great.  Some others to think about:

Ruger Single-six or Bearcat (bearcat can change cylinders to .22 mag but isn't as accurate with .22 LR)

S&W 2206 target pistols - fun, 1911 grip angle, but hard to find.

S&W 617 revolver - 10 shot .22 revolver w/a 7 1/2" barrel (mines stainless) different bbl lengths available.

I had a Ruger 22/45 and really liked it but sold it anyway.

Had a Buckmark, same deal, great gun but wound up selling it.

Then I bought a SIG Trailside.  AWESOME gun. Wow. It's VERY accurate, the trigger is awesome and the grip is phenomenal.  I just love it.  Of course it doesn't fit your "inexpensive" qualification.  It's about 4bills and change for the adjustable sight model.  Mine is the non-adjustable sight model but it's still dead on. I can hit clay pigeons all day long at 50-80 yards without even working too hard.


A good .22 to stay AWAY from is the Walter P-22.  It's fun to shoot and looks nice but mine I can't hit the broad side of a barn with.  I have changed sights, tighented up all the screws, the works. But it's still very inaccurate.  Plus it's a jam-o-matic.  

Get a TRailside, it's a little extra money but when you are hitting stuff at waaaaaay ou there, you'll be glad you did.

If you can find a Colts Woodsman pistol and the price is good you should consider buying it. Like the Ruger Mark II and the Browning Buckmark, it has that feel. The angle of the grip is exactly where it needs to be to aid in good marksmanship.I killed a deer with mine. 20 yard head shot and there was no tracking at all. Many a sassy groundhog has gone to their Valhalla in front of this shootin arn too. I highly recomend the Colts Woodsman as an addition to any collection.
