I don't, fuck that.
I have ARFCOM's dream job as I get sick time but I can't use it. Wife seems ill, I keep a 10 foot distance and retreat to the spare bedroom. In the rare event I get sick I extend the same courtesy to her, although she doesn't care and still shares the same bed. Poll to follow. |
IMO if you share the same air and are within 10 ft, it'll still be caught. I've avoided mine for the past week because she had a bad cold, but I can feel it coming on.
What exactly is ARFCOMs dream job, because I doubt it's mine.
No way in hell am I leaving my bed becasue someone is sick. I won't usually catch it anyway. ETA actually it may be after reading your screen name. lol |
Well since I have only been SICK , maybe 3-4 times in 29 years . She not much more than that.
YES we do ! |
I like giving my immune system a challenge. No separate beds, still kiss, drink from the same cup etc. rarely get sick.
Anyone ever watch that slit from George Carlin about immune systems?? |

View Quote Practically "on call" 365 days a year I work 60-80 hours a week I get sick time but got yelled at the one time I called in sick I get 3 weeks of vacation every year, but only typically take 2-3 days of vacation around Independence Day. Any remaining vacation gets used if we don't have any work, if that's the case I sell it back. I thought that's what everyone on arfcom does for work, but I must be doing it wrong because I don't have a Ferarri. |

Yes, and she came home Friday sick, cold or something. I rarely catch colds so we still sleep together, and she sleeps warm. |

I work during the day, M-F, 40-45 hours. When I email in sick, my boss says, get better. I get 4 weeks vacation in addition to 10 sick days and I'm using my last 2 remaining vacation days for Dec 30 and 31 after taking all of Chrismas week off because it's company paid holiday. I drive a Subaru, not a Ferrari though. |

Depends on how sick. If it's constant coughing or kicking the covers because of a fever, one of us will sleep in the guest bedroom so both of us get a good night's rest.
Coming down with something? I'll pop some C and D and take my chances. |

It depends on what she is sick with.
I have this strange condition where I don't get sick. I haven't been sick --with anything-- since before 1999. If she gets sick with something loud (coughing, wheezing), I go to another bedroom. |

She's likely contagious before showing symptoms, so by the time she's actually feeling sick, you've probably had plenty of chances to catch whatever bug she has. |

by time you can tell they're sick, you've probably already been exposed
we tend to still sleep in the same (king size) bed. if I'm up puking all night with food poisoning I'll usually go sleep somewhere else to minimize disturbing her |
Hell no. We have two bedrooms and a bathroom in a small upstairs loft in the back of the house.... That's where sickies go.

Most upper respiratory infections are spread through airborne droplets and indirect contact with mucous/saliva. While a person can be infected and shedding the virus but asymptomatic, they probably aren't coughing or sneezing and for practical purposes aren't that great of a vector. Or at least that's what I've read. |
For better, or for worse, in sickness, and in health, we sleep in the same bed.
I have never gotten sick from her. If I have a coughing spell, I feel bad for her, and go hit the reclining sofa. |
Unless whatever one of us has will keep the other one awake, we'll still share the same bed. Chances are, by the time symptoms appear, they've been contagious for awhile anyway.

Flu or stomach virus, the sick one is in quarantine, any other crap, I"m not too worried about.
Nope.
I can't be gratuitously catching infections. Plenty of the patients I see at work are immunocompromised, and even though I wash my hands like an OCD patient, I don't want to increase the odds of giving something to a patient ill-equipped to handle it. And I don't call in sick. Ever. That is a sign of weakness. |
She has Lyme Disease, so she is always sick. It isn't (that science knows of) contagious, so that in itself doesn't affect me. Since it drastically affects her immune system, she catches colds much easier than I. I don't catch what she has 95% of the time because my immune system is much stronger. However, when I am sick I do the best I can to keep her out of snot range. A simple cold can put her in bed for a couple days, so I have to take her into account when I am sick.
If I am hacking and coughing etc I will sleep on the couch, out of fear of spreading it and keeping her awake.
I'll usually retreat to the couch if one of us has the flu or something else that involves vomiting at night.
Last week I moved to the couch at 4:30 am after the 15th visit to our room by a sick 3 year old. He was quite pleased to have my spot next to momma. |
No, we share the bed...I don't get that sick usually anyway...Last time I hurled it was in the early 90s ...the only time I got sick in the 80s was because I drank too much in college
Yes because at the moment I have no choice. Both my SO's are connected to the ends of my arms...
