Best scam I've received to date.  I get a call from some place in CA.  I let it go to to voice mail.  The message starts off with, "My name is Mike Smith with the IRS, this message is for ________ (me)..."
So apparently Mike Smith just happens to be of Indian descent.  He then proceed to tell me that the IRS has discovered a problem with my tax filings.

If I fail to return his phone call, I would either be arrested or executed.  Since Mike Smith's English was pretty bad, I wasn't sure if I was going to the pokey or taking a dirt nap.

Should have called him back and fucked with him.  Then recorded it and posted it for our amusement.

I think you misunderstood. His name is Mike Hunt.

On a related matter, the IRS sent me $199.24 today for some correction that was made to my 2012 Filing.  Oddly enough, I didn't make any corrections or updates to my filing

I get a call occasionally from some Indian guy that tells me that he has discovered a virus on my Windows computer.

When I have time, I love to string those guys along.

I ask what types of problems he found, and if the viruses are dangerous, if they can compromise my online banking information....

When he tells me to begin, I tell him "should I plug it into the power socket?"

The IRS might take everything to pay for my execution.

Not if you make me the executioner of your will...

I'll check with Mike Smith to see if that works.

I do the same thing to those guys.  They get ticked when I tell them that I only use an iPad after 20 mins or so.  One day they actually started cussing me.

Eta: my spelling is horrible

Happened to me once long ago - Guess I made a huge mistake in their favor because I got a check out of the blue for like $2K.

I got one of these just yesterday. I told him to hold on because I had to start my computer. This scam involved turning over control of my computer to him through the use of a website call Teamviewer.com. Yanked his chain with many "hit the wrong button now I have to start over". When I couldn't string it out any further, I invited him to engage in an unnatural act and said goodbye. Tied him up for about 20 minutes, which is I figure the worst thing I can do to these turds. I read my email, made a head call and had coffee so my time was not completely wasted.

When I can spare the time it's kind of fun to toy with these clowns.

Teamviewer is a legitimate desktop sharing application, FYI.  I've used it with some of our field agents when they can't get into the VPN for whatever reason.

Edit: Meant to quote TrickyVic.

No one is saying it isn't.  The other guy was just saying that this scammer was using it to try to give him access to his computer.
