Screw Time, read Newsweek, its somewhat better. Get it a a Library so you dont have to give them your money.

News[b]WEAK[/b] better than Time?  Newsweak is incredibly biased.  Not to mention, they either trivialize the news by reporting on non-existent "trends" they come up with in committee or they demonize and fear-monger issues like guns, drugs, global warming, and republicans.  Not to mention, both are written at the 8th grade reading level.  Maybe the only redeeming thing about them are their photojournalists.

The best news weekly magazine, hands down, is [url=www.economist.com]The Economist[/url]  Subscription's around $80 or $100 a year, but it is so worth it.  

Excellent writing, they very plainly announce their editorial biases and publish articles explaining their arguments for them.  It's a business/politics magazine, but their articles on science and arts are very very well done.  My science-oriented friends say that The Economist does the best job of explaining scientific matters of any general-interest periodical they've ever read.

I think it's the best magazine in the world.

Perhaps I'm showing my ignorance here, but the few articles I've seem from the Economist seemed pretty liberal.

You can't really pigeon-hole The Economist with tags of 'liberal' or 'conservative'.  On one hand, they are very enthusiastic about globalization and free trade.  They rightly ridicule critics of it, because they never have any argument or alternative other than "We dont like globalization and corporations."

They criticize politicians based on how they help or hinder business and trade, and pretty much nothing else.  Otherwise they report political trends and events impartially.

On the other hand, they're mystified by America's liberties regarding gun ownership but like the idea of gay marriage and legalized drugs.  They generally seem in favor of removing Saddam Hussein.

But like I said, if they have clear-cut editorial biases, you can be sure they'll run articles completely explaining the merits of their position (unfortunately they cited Michael Bellesies the anti-gun historian to debunk America's heritage of gun ownership.  But that was 2 years ago.)

Let's not forget Newsweek also has as a columnist Eleanor Clift, that shrill Hillary-clone harpy.
