Just heard on the radio the dumbass Superintendents in San Francisco are proposing a $.02 per ounce tax on all sugary drinks. That's right, $.02 per OUNCE.

I have no problem taxing sugary drinks and sweets.
I see no other way of getting millions of people to pay something for the health care they are going to expect others to supply later in life when their poor diet catches up with them. They should be allowed to buy it in whatever size they want, however. Bloomturd is a little man with a Napoleon complex. |

Could be worse - you could have Amendment 66 like we do here in Colorado.

Why don't they just outlaw sugary drinks and sugar?
Oh yeah, once you start freebasing tax money it's impossible to stop. |

Meh, the precursors to pop are so heavily subsidized WITH tax money that I find it hard to care. It does seem ridiculous that we have to subsidize something just so we can tax it later. Government logic I guess

Yes, I do. It's even in salad dressing. I look at it as a use tax and I have no problem with paying just such a tax if the money goes to health care. Otherwise it would only be a small deterrent to a bad diet and of little value. |

San Francisco is bloated with middle managers who can be deleted from the payroll. Feinswine was among the first politicians who expanded government there.
