Will this keep me awake tonight, or does it suck? Skank kinda creeps me out.

I thought it was meh. I much preferred the original.

The original is in a class all by itself.

The remake I thought was really good. My wife even enjoyed it and she doesn't like horror movies.

I didn't really like it. Evil Dead 2 is the best one by far.

You have to see it if you're a fan of the original. Not really scary, but it had it's moments.

Gore, no scare.

It's worth checking out. Remember that it's a remake of the first film. Yes, Bruce Campbell was in the original but there was no Chainsaw arm, hail to the king baby bullshit in it. So don't expect any silliness. It's pretty much a straight up gorefest.

What??? The original and number 3 are completely different, and kick ass movies in their on categories. Number 2 is ok but not anywhere 1 and 3.

The remake was good on its on merit, better than most horror moves coming out right about now. I still don't think it compares to the original.

Also, btw, if you haven't see cabin in the woods, and you like a good twist in the end of a movie, it is really good. Not the same as most crap horror movies coming out right recently.

I preferred the original.  I kinda thought the remake sucked, which was surprising considering Raimi was the exec producer.

I liked The Cabin in the Woods a lot better.

Like the current Carrie remake, they really hit out of the park with the Evil Dead remake.

Heads and shoulders above the remakes of Halloween, Friday, and Elm Street.

It's awesome.
No cgi and they used tanker trucks full of blood.
I've been meaning to buy it.

That's what I got out of it.  A lot of gore, but really no good scares.

I though the male actors were terrible and there were a lot of cringe-worthy lines of dialogue too.

I enjoyed all the little nods to the original. The scene after the credits was the ultimate troll, I loved it.

The Evil Dead remake was geared toward people like me.  Case in point the opening scene  NSFW

This.

I liked all 4 movies.  My one true issue with the remake is that while Bruce was heavily involved he didn't have any cameos.

He shows up at the end of the credits

It is legit.  They plan on having Army of Darkness separate from the Evil Dead remake world and eventually bring the two of them together in Evil Dead 3

Pretty good really, fairly creepy. The original everyone always says was campy, but the intent was surrealism. That was missing

I enjoyed it. I thought there was some good fan service to the original. That said I am partial to the original. Worth a watch though if you appreciate the series but not a replacement by any stretch.

Any scenes with Jane Levy naked?  Otherwise, never mind.

It was "okay" but the original was, well, more "original" somehow.

this. not exactly good.

some of the plot elements felt forced ie chainsaw and hand.

personally the best movie in the ED category in the last few years is Cabin in the woods although tucker and dale vs evil would fit right in too(the ending being contrived knocks it out of first)

Different from the original, but I thought they did a spectacular job maintaining the suspense.  That movie scared the ever livving shit out of me.  Its probably one of the top horror flicks in my book.
