The board suspended the practice last month after a Dalmatian was shot and killed on the firing range at West Iredell High School by four JROTC cadets. Their instructor, Col. Jack Daniel, thought the dog was a wild animal and instructed the students to kill it after his shot missed.

You city boys just don't know that feral dogs are a problem in many rural areas.
One normally shoots these as they would any other pest. |

Hmmm, he misses the dog and the students kill it? I don't think he should be teaching marksmanship if he can't hit what he aims at.
