Why does my water heater thermocouple keep failing?  Its a Whirlpool 40gal gas fired water heater and I'm replacing thermocouples on a monthly basis.  Just for fun, they always seem to go out in the middle of the night which means cold showers in the morning.

Thermocouples don't just fail after 1 month.  If anything, you have a weak solenoid in your gas valve and only the highest millivolt output can keep it open.
