http://www.armoryblog.com/firearms/philippine-marines-suppressed-m3-grease-gun/

Dubbed the “M3 SpecOps Generation 2", The Philippine Marine Corps armorers added weaver mounts, a Simmons red-dot to replace the stamped sights, a sling, new paint job and of course a suppressor.

Looks like a nice $25 optic.  Other than that, pretty cool.  I remember Italian Navy using Beretta 38 subguns as recently as 2004 in La Madallena.

That thing is pretty damned quiet.

SOOOOO wish it was possible to own something like this without spending thousands. I mean it is a cheap gun (to build) and probably a cheap can. How much does an NFA grease gun run? Would it be better just to suppress an UZI? I want it SOOOO BAD!!

This was the gun Delta used when they were first formed, until the MP5 came along.

Neat.  Even with a Simmons and a locally produced suppressor this may yet set a record high ratio of expensive add ons to inexpensive gun for a service weapon (M3's cost about $20 to manufacture).

Cool. Would a lighter weight bolt speed it up any?

I've seen this story years ago, back in 2005. This article, despite the date, is a bit dated. I guess they're still using them.

Those are major improvements. Could use a better optic though.

Did they make their own M3 or buy it? They might be freebies from our military. If so they have more invested in the paint job then the gun.

I agree on both points. If it came off like I was insulting their upgrades you misunderstood. I was complementing their choice (even if finances made the choice for them) on sticking with a serviceable weapon for little cost as opposed to dropping major $$$ for minimal improvements.

that would seriously rock. I have lusted over a suppressed M3 since I was a kid and saw a Mel Gibson WWII movie where they carried them.

is that the gun from Heat?

no maybe not, but I think it's the gun from Attack Force Z.

They fire faster when they are pointed down, and slower when pointed up.  They are amazingly easy to use and make hits with, and I have nailed
a 12 inch steel target at 150 yards using irons no problem. Alas, it was not mine, and it's too late for me to ever be able to afford one. I have never heard anybody
talk crap about them if they actually have used one.

As far sub guns go, there honestly haven't been that many improvements since ww2 that would make an m3 unserviceable. Nor many of the other quality smgs used.

Would be cool to see a updated ppsh or pps 43.

Thompsons only fell out of favor because of weight and cost.

I was there 95' to 97' and yes they did. They used to walk around Santo Stephano smoking dope with those Barettas slung over their shoulders.

Correct. In one of the books..either Charlie's or Haney's...they talked about snagging a warehouse full from the CIA. I think Haney said they kept some suppressed ones around even after they got their MP5s. It was unparalleled for that duty.

I qualified on it at Ft. Knox, and can unequivocally say it was a huge piece of shit and phenomenally inaccurate.  It was a disappointment surpassed only by my purchase of a Mini 14 a year later.

It is built, quite literally, like a Grease Gun.   Good for something you fabbed in your garage maybe, but it has no place in a First World military.

I have never met anyone who was impressed by it.

Like the Liberator Pistol, they are only sought after because they are rare.

That said, I would like to try one with a red dot sight.
