If a Dirty Harry was to made today who would you pick to be Harry? Personally I don't think anyone can take Clint's place.

None of these Hollywood Homos today could even get close to DH. I could not suspend my disbelief.

Will Smith or Jamie Foxx.

In all seriousness.  How about Sean Bean?

If it was made today, Will Smith would star in it. The opening would have his son rapping and dancing, "yo! I gotta a .44, I got a .44," or some shit.

Agreed that no one could actually replace Clint.  But, if (Magnum) FORCED to choose....Denzel Washington.  Seriously, think about it.

eta: oh, who would "I" choose? Don't know
But Hollywood would choose her. Or maybe the Starbuck chick.

Question for those who think no modern actor could play him:

Who else from that era could play Dirty Harry?

Jason Statham. And I say that, because I think it'd be fun to hear some of those iconic lines come from a Brit working in San Fran.

The Scot from 300, what's his name, was in Machine Gun Preacher, would be OK.

But only one Clint.

Wasn't John Wayne supposed to do the role, but didn't want too many roles as a cop?

Or This.
Both could pull it off, but Willis has a thing for the "rugged, burnt out cop" thing.

you need a tall guy to play dirty harry

dirty harry is not so much of an actual personality

the character is more of just a bad ass attitude personified

a shrimpy guy wouldn't cut the mustard

Back in the day, Bruce Dern could've done it. The guy was a great character actor. Had the dirty,  gritty. cool and calculated cowboy thing going on that Clint had so he would have been great in the Clint roles like Fist Full of Dollars. He could play a guy with a tough attitude very well, even played some real good villains.

I think that he could have pulled of the Dirty Harry role since it's somewhat similar in attitude.

In the movie , The Driver.

I bet Viggo would do a good job. I love Bruce Willis, too, but he's too type-cast these days. Nathan Fillion might be able to pull it off, but he would need to drop a few pounds.

Richard Kiel came to our church and spoke to us about his christain faith.   I had lunch with him thereafter.

That guy is fucking huge.   His hands around my pastors head completely covered it.  A basketball looks like a grapefruit by comparison in his hands.
