Everyone of his speeches has been touted as historic. But, which of his speeches ever really been historic? When ever I hear that he has given or is planning to give a historic speech I think of the kid who cried wolf once too often.

His first inauguration speech was historic, IMHO.

I also think it was the best speech I've ever seen, next to Bush #2 at ground zero.

Don't confuse that with me liking him or voting for the POS.

I would say that his speech at the 2004 DNC Convention was historic because it helped spring-board a one-term Sen. with a community organizer background to the national spotlight and towards the Presidency.

Other than that, no.

He's given quite a few histrionic speeches - historic, not so much.

This.

Now, his supporters think his every utterance is the equivalent of Churchill's "We Shall Never Surrender" speech but I don't think so.

well his first one was the first speech by a black american president who is not eligible to be the president because he was born in Africa. That is pretty historic!

http://www.americanbar.org/content/dam/aba/publications/litigation_journal/summer2013/natural_rights_requiescant_in_pace.authcheckdam.pdf

This article was in the latest issue of the ABA litigation journal.

Thus, President Obama’s speech was not a new strike against natural rights. Instead, it was, as shown by the opposition to it too, the clearest sign that natural rights have passed out of our consciousness. The speech is an important signpost, even if it will likely never enter into the American pantheon of speeches or be one of the “mystic chords of memory” Lincoln hoped would save the country from civil war.

He's half black and half white and gave some speech about race at some point, I guess. It was the first time a sitting black president had a conversation with a sitting white president about race, although it was only half man in each case.

You must be too young for Ronald Reagan I assume?

"Today we did what we had to do. They counted on America to be passive. They counted wrong."

"General Secretary Gorbachev, if you seek peace, if you seek prosperity for the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, if you seek liberalization: Come here to this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!"

He's only given one speech - but he repeated it about 1000 times.

Blaming Bush is not historic.
Chicago thug politics coming to DC could be considered historic...

Was it how he spoke like a black reverend with his voice, and the reverb the sound man used?
