I was just reading an article, and it brought an idea into my mind. There are still some states (*cough*Kalifornia*cough*) that make it extremely hard to get a CCW. New York is another example, and of course, we can go on from there. So the question is, if you were going into a bad neighborhood, would you let that lack of a CCW permit stop you? Where do you draw the line and decide that enough is enough, you're gonna live through this, even if the other guy doesn't?

I don't know about Cali but in NY carry permits are easy to get - unrestricted carry permits are another story. Judges have taken it upon themselves to place limitations as to when and where you can carry citing case law over statute. The good news is if you have a carry permit you can legally carry anywhere in NY outside on NYC and not break the law. the downside is a judge can revoke your permit if you carry in violation of his restrictions, but you can not be charged criminally.

Some people choose to carry in violation of their restrictions. However, I have heard it from these people numerous times before... better to be judged by twelve than carried by six...

When I travel in or out of state it is always under the assumption that I would rather be tried by a jury of my peers than carried by six of them.

We have no CCW provisions at all in MO. (Even as a retired LEO there is no way I can get one.)
I carry every time I leave the house.

When I lived in the People's Republic of Maryland, I was denied a CCW even though I'd been shot at - I was a bystander and not specifically targetted. I voted with my feet and moved to another state where things are more reasonable..

I made the decision long ago that I would carry legally as long as they gave me a legal avenue to do so. And when they cease to give me that legal avenue I would carry anyway.

Over here in the People's Republic of New Joyzee, only rich jews get carry permits.

I carry my Glock w/modified Birdman sights everywhere I go.

Nobody is gonna cap my black ass without getting a hail of gunfire in return.

BTW: NJ sucks. (ever drive through Cedar Grove??)

Hypothetically speaking and for instance, if I lived in a place like southern California and the Rodney King civil verdicts were about to be announced, I would not leave the house without a firearm concealed about my person. Also, if my mother-in-law lived in a place like Cerritos, California, I might conceivably escort her that weekend to church and back, to the store and back, etc, carrying a firearm all the while.

But the police are there to protect us, so this hypothetical discussion, while entertaining, is essentially pointless.

I carry always. When I happen to be in a place where carry is allowed legally then I carry larger less discreet firearm.

I always carry but when doing so illegally then I downsize.

living in los angeles - i carry a concealed cell phone on condition one. full battery and safety off :-)

i like the weapons carrying ability in israel the best - pop down to the 7-11 with an m4 for a slurpee - how cool is that? off to the pet store, cleaners? take your best friend!!! (m4)

When I lived back east, I carried, when I felt it was needed....Ohio had NO CCW, and my ex was in DC for a year....Carried, Carried, Carried..

Now I legally carry in-state...My parents live in KaliKomie.....No Komment.....

On those rare occasions when I have to go into Philadelphia, it sure is comforting to have a .45 on my side and a .357 Magnum in my back pocket. Even better would be to never have to go there though.
I can't discuss situations when I have to work in Baltimore or DC. I'm still here though, aren't I?

Once again I must ask my repeated question-

Does the outcome of what might happen if you're a victim of a violent crime, outway the penalty of unlicensed concealed carry?

[b]DEATH[/b] vs. fine/jail time.

I carried before I was issued my permit and will carry again if they take it away. Where I'm from the LE Center is 50 miles away. I see a Deputy Sheriff in the area about every 2 months. There's now way one will be around when needed.

We all have the right to [b]Self Preservation.[/b] Do whatever it takes to [b]Stay Alive.[/b]

Calif does allow unlicensed carry in certain circumstances. Look up the following in DOJ-Dangerous Weapons Control Law.

I used to have something around all of the time.
Then I got civilized and got the proper paperwork and now I just carry the two allowable.
Both are Sigs. Use the same holsers etc. I'm set but wish that they were a bit smaller.
