Only "front strap grip safety" I could think that even comes close to that definition is the HK p7 (and similar models). But it's not c&r.

I'd be interested in seeing if there is actually such a thing.

That is not a safety... it is the means to cock the striker/firing pin. Releasing it removes the spring tension and returns the striker/firing pin to the forward "rest" position.

The pistol was stolen and is older.  May not be 50 yo but would be close.   I'm an insurance adjuster and need to price this thing.  The insured remembers a front strap "safety " but he isn't a gun guy and Was left the gun by his father.  It would probably be 1960s production and of foreign origin.

I realize that. I've had a couple of them.

But, if you grip it, it can fire. If you don't it's safe. Grip safety.
