The political dynamics have shifted after Newtown, with more members worried about the fallout in the next election for failing to back gun restrictions, McCarthy said.

“It’s a myth” that Democrats lost the House on the gun issue, she said. This time, there are many more groups pushing for new gun laws “out there that will be ready for the next election.”

whatever she's smoking, I want some. has she not taken a look at the climate of this debate? any republican that wants to keep his/her seat next term won't let this bill live.

We may survive the next few years with some gun rights still intact but the Democratic long play is going to work against us. It's going to be a long bloody, drawn out political conflict leaving the next generation of real Americans who were birthed here from other real Americans short on Second Amendment rights.

In CO its 10 to 1 against the mag ban but the Dems are being bullied by BHO and Bloomberg.

That woman is a complete fucking moron.

The guy that killed her husband moved to California. He went through all the BS gun laws that Ca had. He wasn't allowed to own firearms in NY because they knew of his mental problems. Then he drives all the way back to NY to kill people.

If that dumb east coast bitch wants to make a difference, she needs to have federal laws mandate that mental health records are updated to the NICS.

Congresswoman McCarthy was born of the 1993 LIRR massacre.

Colin Ferguson used 2 15 round magazines to murder 6 people and injure 19. He was overtaken by 3 passengers while attempting to load a 3rd magazine. McCarthy's husband was killed and son was wounded in the shooting.

The interesting tidbit in this awful story is that Ferguson boarded the train at atlantic terminal in Brooklyn. It was already illegal for him to be carrying a firearm there. She thinks more laws would have stopped him. She thinks that if the killer only had 20 rounds in 2 magazines, her husband might be alive today. She hasn't considered that he was already breaking the law. She hasn't considered that if he had 2 firearms, he could have kept on killing until he was out of ammunition (since he was basically in a gun free zone). He had 160 rounds of ammunition on him.
