Awesome, best money I've spent. 20/20 vision, after wearing glasses for 20 years.

Still some starbursts in my right eye, when driving at night, due to an astigmatism that they couldn't fix, but I'm very happy with it.

20/20 holding for 7 years; be advised you will become presbyopic early, but reading glasses are better than contacts or glasses all the time.

One year after Surgery, 20/15.

Best money I ever spent. I wish I wouldn't have backed out on my PRK surgery when I was in the Army. It would have be free! However, people often ask me how much it cost, and honestly, I don't remember because it was money that well spent, and I'm a cheap ass.

I did however, I think, pick up a small amount of farsightedness. I was back at work two days later. I didn't have any real problems, my eyes were a little crusty and gooey for about a month after surgery.

Got it done 13 years ago, still have 20/20. I actually got it cause a job i applied for required it. My wife had it done about 7 years ago, she has 20/10 vision

20/15 both eyes. Best thing I ever did.
Wife did it to. And mom, uncle and a few friends.

I had PRK (as opposed to LASIK), but I went from not being able to see the big "E" to 20/20 vision. I had the surgery in 2009 and I still have dry eyes (use refresh eye drops), but definitely worth it.

Yep, been 5 or 6 years now, eyes get dry occasionally after long periods awake, and night time there are some halos but nothing major. WELL WORTH IT

Played golf the morning after my surgery.

OP-

By the nature of your question you are only going to get positive first person feedback about lasik since those that have had problems cannot see your question at all.

Eyes are a fragile and irreplaceable organ. Make sure you know the risk (however small).

Dry eyes is more common with PRK then Lasik....And the difference between the two? LASIK makes a flap for direct laser contact...PRK just blasts your eye with the laser....You will also notice a difference much sooner with LASIK..however you will have that flap for the rest of your life. While Flaps coming undone is a very rare occurrance...it can happen. You will also want to throw in the extra money for them to use a laser to make the flap..its a more uniform cut...opposed to the doctor using a special blade by hand.... So if you are some kind of MMA fighter...probably should opt for PRK..otherwise get the LASIK bro....

Been over 12 years, would do it again tomorrow. Only regret when I'm tired at night get the halos with lights and indoor florescents give me a bit of the same. All in all would do it in a heartbeat!!

Do it - 20/15 after 1 year. Can see the alarm clock again. Use flexible spending for 0% 12 month financing with pre-tax money.

I wore glasses over 30 years and had bad astigmatism. The astigmatism is gone and I am 20/20 or better with the exception of the reading glasses thing that everyone experiences.

I do not see as good as I did 3 or 4 years ago but it is still better than it was before and I would do it again in a second...unless the Dr. thought one of the other procedures was better.

Had it done a year ago, had to get my right eye touched up due to some weird doubling at night. Perfect vision now although I do get tracers sometimes. Best $3k I have ever spent.

4 years running strong and no issues.

Wife had it done 12 years ago and no issues so far.

My brother in law had to do a retouch one year after his initial and afterwards all is good.

Worked great for me. I did it with the new machine that's out. She did one of my eyes short range and one long range, so no reading glasses needed! Took about 3 months for my brain to adapt, but now i can see crisp up close and far away without any glasses at all. 20/15. My job requires me to see .018 inch wires up close so I'm glad it worked out. Good luck!

Had mine done at John Kenyon about 7 years ago. He had the latest machines that treat the eye as a curved surface, instead of flat. Also 20 years experience with lasers and eyes (so 27+ now). Don't go to a weekend seminar laser guy. You will lose close in vision, under about 12 inches or so. Eyes will still change over time. Well worth it!

See if you can use a Health Savings Account to save for it, so you can spend pre-tax money on it.

I had prk through the military and love it I'd gladly pay double for it if I had too

I do seem to get headaches though if I don't drink enough water now right behind my eyes but just keep eye dops and drink plenty of water it's ok

From the history I have seen of these threads the majority will say it vastly improved their lives, best money spent. A smaller group will say their vision had to be corrected again at a later point. A smaller group vehemently disagrees with LASIK because the few times it goes bad, it stays bad.

I am looking at it myself, and in a few more years I hope to get it. I am aware of the risks, and hopefully in a few more years they will be even less than they already are. It is incredibly unlikely anything bad will happen to an individual who gets the procedure done, but there are cases. It is a cost benefit analysis situation, where the benefit totally outweighs the potential cost in my opinion. But that is something for each individual to decide. The odds really are in your favor. But make an educated decision, it is best to know the potential risks.

Two of my brothers had it done over 10 years ago - no issues for either.
I have the worst vision in the family (-9 diopter prescription), but my corneas are abnormally thin so I'm not a candidate.
I was quite bummed when the doctor told me that.

It's your eyes, do plenty of research and use the best money can buy. I paid $3k last year for custom wavefront lasik. I shopped around and for the latest technology and a good doctor the prices are pretty similar, between 3 and 5 grand depending on what warranty you want. I went with the cheapest which is a one year guarantee, for the 5 year it was closer to 5 grand but after doing my own research if you are younger and your eyes are good after a year they will be good for many years.

I had LASIK done about 7 years ago.

Was awesome until the last year, now my vision (esp. close-up) has gone downhill fast.

I do work at least 10 hrs per day on a computer, looking at small details/graphics. This has to be bad for your vision.

I may just get reading glasses, as I'd rather not spend the $ for a re-do....

Yes and no...for me it was perfect. For about 2 years, then...legally blind in one eye. For the first 2 years the best investment I ever made. Now it may be the worst. Going from perfect to loosing one eye sucks like you can not imagine. I would still take the chance again. Still do not know what actually happened but now have a bulge from the inside out causing blinding distortion. I can see very blurry shapes with no detail. The second patient with the same issue out of some 16,000 that had successful procedures by those 2 Doctors. The real kicker is that there is no fix. talk to your doctors alot and remember Shit Happens. Best Wishes.

I had it done in August, after wearing glasses since 7th grade I can now see 20/15. Its the best money I have ever spent.

The absolute worse part is the 10 minutes you are actually in the chair with the laser zapping, after that its fine.

There is at least one on Arfcom presently that had a bad experience and one that committed suicide after a bad experience.

I had PRK done in '06. Dry eyes and a little halo around things still and 20/20 in right eye and 20/15 left eye. Not as strong as with glasses but still better than wearing super thick glasses and being functionally blind without them.
