although i don't know this firsthand, my boyfriend was telling me that someone, i think affiliated with the NRA, took this book apart piece by itty-bitty piece. every citation/quote was researched back to the original source, and the vast majority of the time, Mr. B. had either altered, left out, or otherwise, twisted the real meaning of the original sources.
of course, that's the only way he could have come to his conclusions. funny how the antis don't really care if the message is true, as long as it says what they want it to say. |

I belive that the anti's are using the same tactics that the nazi's used, That is, repete the same lie over and over again,and sooner or later people will begin to belive it, and if it's nessessary, fabricate lies and promote them as the "truth"

It is Clayton Cramer, who is a historian who analyzed the whole book, and found there were many misquotes and other serious irregularities. Cramer has a web site somewhere, might look off of www.shotgunsnews.com.

I remember reading Clayton Cramer's rebuttal of Bellesiles but I can't remember the URL. Cramer really tore the book apart.

While I used to frequent talk.politics.guns, it was really fun watching Cramer destroy the anti-gun weenies that dared to show up and spout their hci crap. The one that really comes to mind was this guy name douglas weir who was one of those talking heads on t.v. that tried to discredit John Lott's book. Cramer started out then the man himself, Lott showed up and weir left with is tail between his legs.
