The idea that Obama would allow 18,000 jobs to walk, particularly if Mexico is involved, just seems highly unlikely to me. It also seems as if it is impossible to profitably operate the company without gutting the union contracts. With everything else the administration has done to support the unions, some type of involvement here seems almost certain. I don't know if it would be in an obvious way or not, but there is an article at ZeroHedge that draws some light comparison to GM.

Likely?

A federal judge has already forced Hostess to go to some kind of arbitration before they can liquidate. They're just waiting on the bakers' union response now.

Yes, that's right: the feds force the company to arbitration, but politely ask the union.

NOT likely. Zero has nothing to gain.

This is very conflicting. Obama loves Unions and hates junk food (for the peasants. He can have as much as he wants)

They've been waiting on that for TWO FUCKING MONTHS.

IMHO the feds will do anything they can to save the union.  They need to keep the campaign fraud donations coming.

Michelle won't let him prop up Twinkies and Ding Dongs as it clashes with her "Control the Food for Chillens" agenda.

....unless she is intending to stuff the Twinkies with broccoli or something.  Oh the horror.

not trying to play Union apologetics, but Hostess was fighting a longer duration drain in the form of sugar import tariffs

If the Goverment was interested in saving the jobs they would need to remove themselves (via import tariffs) from the problem.

only 18,000 people in that union, not enough votes to matter.  They can use voter fraud and save millions for their 4 year of traveling the world on vacation

"Could the government "bail out" Hostess?"

Sure, why not? They still have unused checks in there checkbook.

They are working on forcing an agreement between labor and management.

Well, Zero probably owes Christie a favor.
