Word coming down now:

Jimmy Hyams ‏@JimmyHyams
Derek Dooley has been fired. Will not coach kentucky game. Press conference today at 2 pm with AD Dave Hart. Dooley will not attend

So who's next?  Any chance UT gets Gruden or Charlie Strong?  If not them, who?

I think Gruden would be a great college coach, but I don't see it happening.

In just the SEC alone we'll be looking for at least three and possibly four coaches.  AR fired its coach this past April, KY a few weeks back, TN today, and quite possibly Auburn (based on their performance this year).  Gonna be quite a market for coaches.  Let the bidding begin!

Sorry Tennessee you are not getting Strong and you definitely not getting Gruden.  Better start looking at high school coaches.  Program is in shambles and just got slapped with more violations.

their talent level is better now than it was when kiffin started the dumpster fire down there.

if they get a solid coach they could turn it around fairly quickly. i imagine they will. they will pay somebody far out the ass.

Interesting:

@BradenGall: CBS Sports saying Gruden's focus on building staff has been college related. Recruiting, etc. Chances of him in SEC seem to be growing.

i agree. i dont know why gruden would go college level when there are any number of NFL teams that would pay him 7-8 million to coach there.

most he would get at UT is probably in the 5 mil range. i think saban makes 5.2?

Dunno who Tennessee will get, but I'm hoping like hell that Kentucky will be so fortunate as to land that lying, dirt bag, douche nozzle named Bobby Petrino. Kentucky fans have been waiting an entire lifetime to field a competitive football team and are willing to take Petrino, baggage and all, to get there. But our retarded AD probably won't even offer him the job and instead hire another in a long list of nobodies.

I'd still rank Ravens games above it. But it was against Buffalo, so it's not like it was a competitive game.

Pfft...that's nothing. Chizik will get $7.5M when he's let go in a couple weeks...paid out over 3 years...so he's going to get over $200k/month for not winning a single SEC game this year.

Whoever is selected at UT, it better be a big name with some serious skills and ability to recruit.  UT has the money to get some high profile people, and they better use it!

I'm hearing that Jimbo Fisher at Fla St. is looking for a new job.

I say we offer the coach who wins the BCS championship game 10 million to come to Tn next year. Go totally mercenary. Saban is not above a payday obviously.

Fuck everybody, the new AD, Hart i think is his name, better not fuck this up or people are gonna be ready to lynch him.

According to Hart, they have a $1.9 mil reserve, compared to some SEC teams having $50-100.  He did say money would not be what prevents anyone from being hired, though.  Evidently, the Haslam's and several other huge booster have committed to getting a big name hire.

Like Saban-esque money.

Look!  Suddenly UT Athletics has an extra $6 mil for the next 3 years to play with.  What is supposedly in the works to kick in in roughly 3 years?  SEC Network and it's revenue stream.  Funny how these things work out...
