I stick with all Win Components. WLP for primers and 5.7 Grains of Win 231!

No complaints!

... Weak?

whilst target practicing, weak is your friend.
What is your mission?

Clays isn't the best powder choice for 45 ACP, yields the lowest velocity and highest pressure among the Hogdon powers for that round.  4 grains is the max recommended load.  I like Universal Clays for .45 and .40.

Data from Hogdon's web site:
230 GR. HDY FMJ FP         COL: 1.200"

          Max     Vel     CUP
HS-6      8.2     825     15,400 CUP
UNIVERSAL 6.0     853     16,900 CUP
HP-38     5.3     832     16,800 CUP
TITEGROUP 4.8     818     16,700 CUP
CLAYS     4.0     732     17,000 CUP

I use Unique, though a lot of people complain that it's dirty.  My load is the 200 grain Speer Gold Dot hollowpoint over 7.0 grains of Unique in a Speer Lawman case and a CCI large pistol primer.  Works well, good accuracy out of my Kimber.

Define "weak". Does this load not make major PF in your gun? Does it not properly cycle the action? Need more info.

My personal load using Clays is 4.4 gr Clays, WLP primers, 230gr FMJ, OAL 1.26.
This load makes 178 PF out of my Kimber Compact.

YMMV, All safety disclaimers apply.

6gr of Unique is my "standard practice" load.
Yes, the old Unique is dirty, They have since released a new "clean" version - I have not tried it yet, but more than likely it will be my new powder for pratice rounds

when i say weak, i mean very low recoil, and the round seems to barely have enough charge to cycle the action, i use fed primers, new win brass, and win bullets, 230grn fmj, and used 4.0 grns of clays, some goober at cabellas told me that it was the best to use, baah...
