On August 6, 2002 the Wall Street Journal printed their response to the latest William Jefferson Clinton claim that George Herbert Walker Bush was ultimately responsible for the debacle in Somalia.

WSJ outlined the details surrounding the attempted capture of Mohammad Farrah Aidid, especially the top level Clinton administration's command decision to deny local commanders the use of heavy armor.

The editorial concludes as follows:

The reason Mr. Clinton can't blame the events of "Black Hawk Down" on President Bush's father is because those vents had nothing to do with him.  They were Mr. Clinton's responsibility, and his alone.
