I feel your pain. While I don't live in a duplex, the former neighborhood hoodlum lived directly across the street from me for 3 years. His name is Jonathan, and his father is a truck driver who is gone all week and his mother works long hours. I have no problems with them trying to make ends meet, but they were doing so at the cost of not raising their children. Jonathan was known to be responsible for several thousand dollars worth of vandalism in the neighborhood, including completely demolishing the neighborhood clubhouse by our pool when it was being remodeled.
I'd come home to find tons of teenagers playing basketball at all hours of the night and early morning, kids smoking pot in cars parked outside his and my house, loud music, obscene language, trash on my property like cigarrette packs, soda cans, and even broken glass bottles under my dish on the side of the house where they had thrown bottles at it. I finally made it a point to clean my guns on the balcony while they played their games and be sure to clear my firearms in the driveway after my range trips if they were out. I also made it a point to open carry on my property at all times, and they saw this. After doing this a few times the bullshit stopped. I learned a few months ago, Jonathan is now in prison doing a 30yr sentence for something, though I haven't found out what yet. He's 19, and had previously been to boot camp and was on probation when he was arrested this last time. Whatever he did, it must have been serious to get him 30 years, though with Texas' prison system he'll see a fifth of that if we're lucky before he's let loose on society again. I will get the website and PM it to you ASAP. This place I found has TONS of cool $hit. If it was not for my fiance living with me I would wire the place with spy cams through the walls with mikes and stuff as there are 2 bedrooms of the neighbors that border our hallway. Record some cheap porn of the daughters and/or mom and "drop" them at random places at the highschool across the street where the daughters go. And with so many guys and kids coming and going there has to be SOME illegal activity, especially with the couple of seedy looking black guys I've seen there.

If it wasn't for my fiance living with me I would have my revenge, even if I had to bar windows and park my car 2 blocks away. Alas, getting hitched so I have to be "responseable". I would like to take one of my ARs and a beta and just hose their living room and kill that stereo with the "black music" aka Hip Slop and rap. Maybe I should push my speakers up to the wall and play 800 watts of Kenny Rogers.

you can give their stereo.. a boost.
CB radio, 400 watt linear amp. should pretty much disrupt any home-use electronics. get a directrional antenna... beam directly at their stereo... should make for some.... interesting effects. and they will have no damn clue whats going on or whos doing it. it will just go wonky. note this is illegal... but who the F**k cares? just dont do it long enough to get tracked. aka dont transmit for 20 mins. |

For the CB idea will it screw with all parts of the sterio circutry such as the CD player? What about their cable TV? Can enough spurious noise be generated to play havoc with that as well? If so what is the best cahnnel to use?

Alright, I have to be the dissenting opinion here, although that is quite rare for me on this board.
I sympathize with your feelings, I live in a toghetherment (apartment just seems so oxy-moronic) building. BUT, instead of taking the appropriate steps, which, you yourself outlined, you're talking about making people sick with UHF devices? First of all, thinking of that solution alone makes me wonder about your judgement. Talk to them politely, if that doesn't work talk the landlord. For cryin out loud, if they key your car, everyone including the police is going to know who did it. If you really think that's going to happen put the webcam out your window, set to take a picture every ten seconds. Your reaching to the extreme (borderline insane) to solve a problem when you haven't even asked nicely yet. If all of the appropriate steps fail, then feel free to sonic the bastards, but you have a duty to do what is right first. Otherwise YOU are the bad citizens, not your noisy neighbors. Mike |

it can affect most things electronic because its outputting so much power it floods the sidebands. it can acctuly have visual effects on the tvs screen. its akin to a jamming signal, be warned.. its not a very short range. it will affect others. it wont destroy things. they just wont work right while its getting abused by so much energy.
if you make this mobile you can also futz with police radar. ;) channel? dunno, play with them all till somthin happens... depending on the effect you could acctuly generate a signal in the stereo that blows out the speakers (granted its about 1 in 6 billon chance...) |

They are VERY close to me, their living room is next to mine. With a directional antenna (small one) how likely would I affect teh neighbors? The house directly next to ours has trash too so I could care less about them.
We will move in 6 months unless it gets real bad. Something along these lines [url]http://www.amazing1.com/security3.htm[/url] I am unsure though if it is audible or inaudible like dog whistle. i would gauge the range at 1/4-1/2 mile. i have never experimented with this.the reason for directional antenna is for aiming and lessening effects to unneccesary participents. i would however have ALL your stuff shut off when you do this, i do NOT know its real effects, if it can jam police radar guns well enough to prevent accurate reading it should have a very pronounced effect on other electronic systems ( the reason its not used much to jam radar is 1. its illegal, 2. it will drive your cars computer out of its mind)

A couple of ways to do interesting things without long-range effects is to: 1- Look into the interesting things Tesla used to do with resonance. He would attach transducers to structures and at the right frequencies he could get them to start swaying, or cause furniture to start moving around the floor by itself. Picture their dishes falling off table and cupboards in the middle of the night... 2- You are in the same building, so you share an electrical system. Instead of broadcasting RF, inject noise onto the AC line. Something that overwhelms the cheap filters in their stereo but won't bother anything or anyone else. If you can cause a deformed sine wave you could get their clocks to run screwy also. Be sure yours run on batteries first. Have fun and keep us posted. |

Deceive, Disable, Destroy beware of messing with the power system, if you put the altered sinewave back out of phase you can do serious damage to electronics all over the building if the breakers dont blow first. to do it right you have to intercept their apartments powerline through your frq generator and then on to thier apartment.. but do you really want to play with stuff that dangerous? |

We have sperate fuse boxes that are litterally like 50 years old that still use the old pull out fuses. I dont think anything done to theirs will affect mine. Is there anything I can do to inject "noise" into their lines? How about a focused EM pulse? We share a common basement and I have full access to all gas and electric systems. I am going to dig deeper in some of my electronic mags to find more fun stuff. I still haven't ruled out the spy cam idea...[:D]

Ok, here's the real answer.
Complain to your landlord. He has a duty to stop that disturbance. If he won't stop it (if they don't knock it off, he must evict them--it's called a covenant of quiet enjoyment) in a reasonably short period of time then just move out. Get a new place and leave. If the LL won't stop it, he's in breach of the lease and you may leave without fear. If you paid a deposit, you might want to withold rent to cover it if you think you won't get it back (BTW, if you do that first, you may be in breach but I say risk it, especially if it's a big deposit). Bottom line, hold your LL's feet to the fire and if he won't deliver, get the hell out. Oh, and remember, document everything (write down times the noise occurred; get copies of police reports etc. ) in case you have to prove it later if and when LL sues you for the rent. You DO NOT have to put up with that sh!t. |

It won't take the cops long to figure out they live in a duplex and where the video was shot from, and I'm pretty sure your state or city has laws against surveilance like that. Living with crappy neighbors sucks, but dealing with them by making them sick is definitely unethical. You're expecting teenagers to be decent while acting like a child yourself. Handle this like an adult. Talk to the mother first, tell her that you're trying to be civil and handle this privately between you and them, but if things continue you will call the landlord and then the cops. If you're worried about them damaging your property or keying your car then place some of those spy cams with a motion detector pointing at your vehicle as well as a security light. Spend some time out on your porch drinking a beer or whatever with your fiance to let remind them you're there. Vigilence is the key. If things degenerate, then take whatever measures you feel are appropriate, but my gut tells me to handel it privately in an adult manner before trying to induce sickness. Ethics have there place, I'm suspending them at this time. If the daughters are almost 18 and old enough to whore around and act like adults then treat them as such. Funny my brother and I never acted like that when we were younger, it helps when you dont have white trash parents who dont care and are'nt home to keep an eye on things and to teach right from wrong and common curtecy (sp?). If you look at it on a bigger scale. The military would do what was necessary and expend resources to accomplish it. So will I. I will try diplomacy first but if that breaks down then its defcon 1. This is one of the sorriest threads I have ever read in this forum.
Have you even introduced yourselves to your neighbors? Did you even look at the property before you rented it? You state that you have not tried diplomacy yet but you are ready to try some rather crude things to acomplish your goal. You speak of these people and their company in a very demeaning and slanderous way. It makes you sound like a bigot. They were living there first. You chose to live next to them. Now you want them to live by your rules. Or face the consequences. But you don't even want to let them know that their lifestyle is cramping yours. See anything wrong with this picture? You say bigot like its a bad thing...[:D] I am prejudice as hell though, there is a difference.
I asked the landlord if they were noisy, he said "none more than normal". Coming from a building that was so quiet you can hear a pin drop to this was day and night. Slanderous things? I work in the social services field and have seen and interacted with enough white trash to recognize it when i see it. I've spent the last 4 years essentially "deprogramming" children who were raised in homes where the families were so disfunctional it is amazing. I am interested in these things (EMP, UHF ULF) in general cause it's just damn cool stuff and will only use it as a last resort (just cause I can). If that makes me a jerk I can live with that and sleep well at night. I've yet to meet anyone who can be 100% moral and ethical 100% of the time and I wont pretend to be that person. BrenLover |
