Benelli M4 gets my vote for sure. Of course that new VEPR 12 gauge looks pretty cool also for a SBS project.

There is one exception to the ARFCOM rule of "Get both"
Pursuant to ARFCOM Revised Statutes section 5.193, if one contender in a "Which firearm should I get" poll was manufactured by Kel-Tec CNC Industries, Inc., the opposite contender is the automatic winner. Subsection B states that If both contenders are manufactured by Kel-Tec CNC Industries, Inc., then the OP must commit seppuku with an OKC-3S. |
|
It's either the KSG or the purple winged unicorn...
Of course, someone has actually SEEN a purple winged unicorn. I don't know anyone who has seen a real KSG yet. that also tells you how often I get out these days... |

Quoted: M4, I love mine +1 if it was a woman, I'd be having sex with it. |
|
Never buy a new product on its first production run. Bugs still need to be worked out.

I voted Benelli, but both abused rental Kel Tec pistols I fired decided to break on me, and I don't mean failed to fire or fail to eject break, I mean real actual metal parts broke into two. Part of me wants to chalk it up to being abused rental guns, but my subconscious makes me back away slowly and never go there again. |

M4 because it has one of the fastest cycle rate of any shotgun.
|
|
You've got to find the KSG before you can buy one.
Benellis, on the other hand, move slow. Availability shouldn't be an issue, and the m4 is a nicely built gun. So, between your choices, that's what I'd get. However, I think you should also consider the FN SLP which I also read good reviews on, and the value option, the Mossberg 930 Jerry Miculek.

I'm no gun snob but how is this even a question? Benelli obviously

Kel tecs just aren't hard use tools. Benelli makes hard use gear. My M2 has been abused and always comes back for more |

One is a toy, the other is the real deal. Benelli hands down!

Coming from a former KSG owner, go with the Benelli. Same here. The M4 is way easier to reload, even more so under stress. In a house with narrow halls, lots of doors, etc., the KSG has size and maneuverability advantage. In any other situation the M4 wins. |

Considering it has the previously discontinued $500 collapsable stock, a NP3 coating and the extended mag tube, it's about how much it would take to get the standard M4 up to this standard. |

Yeah, seems about right. Regardless, you want the best....got to pay. A person could get into a cheaper Remington or Mossberg, but if it's down to a Benelli M4, a person is going to be hard pressed to get one under $1400. |

Rifle > Shotgun
Get an 870 or 590 on the cheap and put the rest torwards rifle and/or ammo. |

I don't know anyone who has seen a real KSG yet. that also tells you how often I get out these days... They have it at a ridiculous price way above MSRP, so it sits in the shop. Some dealers just don't seem to mind having a fortune tied up in unsold inventory. They would rather let it sit for 6 months to make a $400 profit than turn inventory quickly and perhaps sell 4 in that time period for $125 profit each. |

One's a tool, the other is a novelty in my opinion. Go with the Benelli.
|

I vote Benelli, but the Mossberg 930 JM Pro is next on my list. I'm hearing good things about these shotguns and I got some trigger time on one this summer. Excellent shotgun.

Although not a shotgun (or "shotty" in basement arfcom lingo) I have a P3at that I have run many hundreds of rounds through and has stood up really well. I find myself liking KelTec, even though the name sounds more like some company that makes cheap kitchen appliances advertised on TV than a firearms company.

You want a new gun....Get the Benelli M4.
You want a toy.....Get the KSG. *own the Benelli M4 and anf love it. *I have shot the KSG I like it but I would wait till the kinks are worked out. |
