It records your total number of posts and the post number of the post in each thread.

So if you post AGAIN in this thread it will be higher than 48... the number post for the topic...
So this way, you can make your 10,000th post a memorable one! |

Make another post on this thread and compare the numbers between the opening post and your successive reply. That should answer your question.
