I've been noticing and increased number of cheap old and beat up boats for sale.  I wonder if at some point the affordability will increase the number of boating accidents resulting in property loss?

Accidents happen with brand new or late model cars as much as they happen with old ones.  I imagine boats are similar in that respect.

I think the thought is that idiots who have no knowledge of boats and safety typically are seen driving cheap boats.  More cheap boats mean more idiots on water and potential for more accidents.

Reminds me of a theory a friend of mine has.  He think people on the roads would be much better drivers if the minimum price of any car, new or used, was $50K.

Consider yourself lucky.  I'm still waiting for my ship to come in.

People buy them, use them one season, realize they use a LOT of fuel and cost a lot to keep running, let them sit in the driveway a few years, then sell them off to the next sucker when they need cash. And thus, the circle of B.O.A.T. is unbroken and it starts anew.
